When the period of account is less than 12 months, then the basis period for the 2nd tax year should be the first 12 months of trading, isnt it? Then why is the CYB used?? (The last question)
First of all, I do appreciate the lectures, they are very informative. However, I would like to provide some constructive feedback about the use of different examples in the lectures compared to the notes.
It would be far easier to follow these lectures if the examples in the notes and lectures were the same. The different examples would be far more effective as homework or as a part of a revision session. More examples are good, but in my personal onion, I find doing two examples at the same time demotivating because having to write down so many new examples and organizing them is time consuming.
I hope this information is taken in the way it is intended. I work as an accounting lecturer and would appreciate any constructive feedback. Thus, I leave mine here.

Why in the example of A V FC, in tax year 2017/18 instead of basis of assessment being ’12 months to a/c year end date’ it it ‘CYB’?
