Hi, no, the lectures were recorded for F4 English variant. In the very near future I’m going to start recording for global variant, chapters 1 – 9. But they don’t exist just yet

Sorry, but if you read the course notes and you come across a problem, don’t hesitate to post your question on the Ask ACCA Tutor F4 page and I’ll get right back to you

Okay. I am having difficulty learning the Incoterms as well as all those Legal systems. My question is, if I go through the OpenTuition notes very carefully and read them thoroughly, is it enough for me? or should I go through the text book as well?

I tried going through the text but it felt all french to me so I couldn’t understand it. I also cannot find the lectures for these chapters anywhere on the internet. Could you help me please

Read the opentuition notes, repeatedly. They’re nowhere near as full as a study text …. but at least they are readable!

Yes, read the notes and then start practicing mcqs from a revision kit. And don’t mark your attempt in the revision kit itself. Mark your effort on a separate piece of paper – that will enable you to go over and over the questions multiple times

It’s gone Lara. It’s no longer of such great significance as it used to be. With the exam format now entirely multi-guess, the knowledge of cases and case names is virtually redundant.

I’ve left the lectures because the stories behind the cases help to make the principles more “alive”, but don’t bother even beginning to try to memorise case names

HELLO! WHY ARE WE WRITING IN UPPER CASE? PLEASE DON’T DO THIS IN FUTURE!

Now, how to download the videos – sadly, you can’t. It’s the only way that we can keep the site free

But you can watch them as frequently and as often and as regularly as you wish. You can get even get friends and family to watch them with you – make an evening of it.

And every time you watch them think to yourself “This is FREE!”

But they’re not available to be downloaded

      OK?

Hi, there really isn’t (in my opinion) any need to change the lectures. I think that ALL students facing F4 should by now be aware that the format of the exam has changed ……. but it is only the format that has changed. The knowledge and the depth of that knowledge has not changed.

Obviously there is now no longer any need to know case names – but, there again, there never was any absolute need to know case names ….. they just made it easier to remember the principles established by those cases

No, no plans to change / update the lectures

firstly……your lectures have gotten me through countless exams and i’m more than greatful for it. you truly make learning and exciting and knowledgable experience.

Secondly……..I just wanted to confirm “in the carbolic soap case, would Carlile be the offerer and the Carbolic Smoke Ball Co. the offeree,(since the ad was an intention to treat) and so the offer to try out the product would be made by Carlile and the acceptance of it would be made by the Carbolic Smoke Ball Co. in order to enter an agreement.

In addition with regards to agreement by conduct, wouldn’t she, going to the store or going online and purchasing that product viewed be viewed as agreement by conduct. She offered to purchase the item and they accepted by receiving her payment, and so no need to communicate further.

Also I wanted to confirm whether the court views the contract of purchasing the product and the contract of offer a the reward as two separate contracts, since it might had been as a result of this much guarantee and reward that Carlile tried out the product to begin with.

      NOOOOOO!

The whole point about this case is that an advert CAN IN FACT be an offer to the world at large (Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Co

You really do need to look at Carlill again but this time accept that the company’s advert is an offer and that Mrs Carlill is accepting the company’s reckless offer

      ok?

OK ….I carefully looked at the Carlill’s Case again, and it was made more clearer to me following your advice and, viewing the advert as an offer. Thank you for your quick response and explanation. It was simple and precise.

There used to be a comedy show on UK BBC called “Allo ‘Allo” and the comedic German officer was called Herr Flick (It doesn’t have the same impact in lower case!) I’m always reminded of him whenever I teach that particular case and it always brings a smile to my face 馃檪

    Hi Sheha

If it were my personal choice for me, I would go for English Law. The problem for non-natural English speakers is the complexity of the World of contract law. Itself is “tricky” but “tricky in a foreign language” and often mixed in with apparently “perverse” decisions makes it a difficult paper.

However, with the introduction of mcqs we could find that it’s less of a trial.

I believe that the key to success will now be constant and endless practice of mcqs.

Because of a technical problem with my tablet, I have not yet been able to supply Admin with any mcqs of my own making.

However, it will be necessary anyway for you to obtain a revisiion kit from a repuatable publisher as soon as possible.

Then, get stuck into those questions.

A word of advice – do NOT write in the revision kit – don’t mark it with your answers.

If you do, you will not be able to go back again and again to attempt the questions.

In addition, of course, when you have passed paper F4, you will then be able to sell the revision kit to a new entrant to the wonderful world of ACCA F4 law. This opportunity will be lost to you if you mark the answers in the book

Hi Mike! I still have not decide which variant for my F4 paper. Is it wise if I just choose the English or Global variant just to get through the paper using the lectures here? If I register for classes (which of course I ll need to pay for), I should be sitting for Singapore variant. Do you have any advice?

I passed F4 with the help of these video lectures in just a month and half. Literally, when i was sitting the exam, i had forgotten most names for the cases and if I had read the new syllabus could have attempted the last question too, but still I was shocked when i saw my results. Mike’s lectures are awesome, the best perhaps on this website, very entertaining.

I did not enrol for a taught course, rather I enrolled for Standard revision course. I am depending on open tuitions’ lecture videos and all I can say is, it is really helpful.. Although some of the areas on the notes aren’t been covered.. I just google and read through it. Fingers crossed for all of us on June if there’s anyone here who’ll take the exam as well. 馃檪

More important than a study text is a revision kit!

You can pass this paper without a study text but you would really struggle to pass withput a revision kit

Listen to the videos / audios, read the course notes multiple times and read the questions and answers in the revision kit.

Mike’s advice is to read those questions and answers until you are sick of them. Thats what I did – got through them 3 (maybe 4) times and cruised through the exam
