there was a question in the textbook and in that question it was given that overtime is paid at a time and a quarter. what does it mean? and how to we determine how much is paid from that. Also they have given the hours worked overtime.

Im not sure if Im allowed to answer, but a time and a quarter means 100% + 25% of the normal hourly pay.

Please do not use capital letters!

Please ask this sort go question in the Ask the Tutor Forum, and not as a comment on a lecture.

Sir, Thank You for your lecutures.

However, the Text book has small part on making Labour Accounts (T-accounts) which I am weak in. Could that be explained as it comes even in the absorption costing chapter.

Preparing accounts is very rarely tested in the exam and even if it is then it would only be for very few marks indeed.

Just how much of this portion of the syllabus is examined, out of interest?

    Appreciate these lectures very much.

      Thank you for the comment.

Everything in the syllabus is examined, but there are unlikely to be more than 1 or 2 questions from this chapter.

In essence general overtime is treated as an indirect cost?

I had a question which asked to calculated direct and indirect cost and general over time was included in the direct cost, was this wrong ?

The basic pay for the overtime is a direct cost. The overtime premium (the extra above the basic pay) is an indirect cost.
