Congratulations to all those who scaled the BAR. APM is not a joke. This is one paper that can trap you in many rounds if you are unlucky.
To those who scored 50(as weird as it sounds), my greatest joy is really for you.
To all who passed, please share your success tips.
July 19, 2021 at 5:34 pm #628812Its’ amazing how AFM is such a technical paper to study for. Can literally blow up your mind during the reading phase. But once you hit the bull’s eye, you score so well in the exam.
So congratulations, to all those who were able to hit the Bull’s eye!. For those, who missed, just dust yourself and be more determined for the next round. You can and only will be better.
For someone who had NO exemptions, this race has taught persistence, tenacity and strong determination to accomplish life goals.
The failures, have only made me a better accountant than I would have been, just passing exams and re learning in the real world. For anyone resitting, please take note, your foundation for this course needs to be firm- understand the basics. Focus on calculating questions is no longer enough. Theory for June 2021 was more than calculations. If you knew your theory well, you are likely to pass if you only focused on calculations, you may or may not have made it.
Please read up on your theory as well as practicing questions. Past questions is key. As we are all computer based, best to start to practice using the practice platform, do not wait till last minute. This way, you can learn your techniques on time management from the very start. Cherry picking is no longer encouraged. AFM topic link together. Best to have an idea on the whole syllabus.Time management for exams is key. Whatever you do, please make sure that you do not overrun on any one exam question. Move to the next.
If possible, form a study buddy group. Take topics individually and discuss amongst yourselves. Make it effective. They can be helpful. If you don’t have the time, then no need.
Congrats again to everyone who passed this time round. For those continuing in the race, I wish you great success in the next round. Just focus, take away all forms of distraction, and learn right. We will all celebrate in the end.

I am so sorry to hear this. It can be very demotivating.
APM, if you ask me, is a weird paper however, some diets are favorable, while others may not be.
I will suggest that you take a step back, and reconsider how you have been studying. I will suggest that you first of all, find a tuition provider that can explain things to you, in a way that you would understand, and not teach APM as SBL, but as APM.
Then, for this level, practice practice practice as many question papers you can lay hold of. and finally, work on your typing skills to gain speed, during the examination if you would be writting CBE.
It may do you well, to skip June, and focus on doing September instead if you need time.
Don’t forget to pray and have faith that you will do well.Best of Luck to you in future.
November 27, 2020 at 10:15 am #596660I think that you need to decide which you really prefer. Are you a calculations person or theory person? And where do your main interests lie? Tax, financial management or performance management?
I have no experience of ATX but no one is easier between APM and AFM.
APM is definitely theory based with a lot of interesting facts you can pick up relating to day to day operations, while AFM is not just figures but really technical. In my opinion, APM is easier on the brain while studying. You just need to ensure you master the techniques required for exam sitting. AFM, can be very tough on the brain and its advisable to make sure you give yourself at least 3 months full study to attempt AFM as the syllabus is very wide. All the best.

August 24, 2020 at 9:25 pm #581814Thank you for leaving this information.
As for me, I am not sure i have the time to cram functionalities as it may be time consuming and i fear that I may not present a layout to earn me enough marks. I am trying to focus on lay out rather than relying on formulas. Its best to work as though you are doing a paper exam however, presenting same in Excel. This may help. As for the Word document, hopefully, it should be easier than the exam paper. Trade off.
I pray that we do well. AFM is not for the faint hearted.

I am planning to finish my remaining 2 papers after a long gap.
Which one you suggest me to do for September 20: 1) P2+P4 or 2) P2+P7?
Which pair is most beneficial to take together? Is anything changing in syllabus from September 20 for these 2 papers?SBR + AAA is your best combination.
AFM is purely finance and is highly technical. You need alot of time to cover the entire syllabus, including revision of past question papers.
And please start reading now. Best not to procastinate.

I have completed APM with 50%. Now I am an affiliate. This is my third attempt after scoring 40 & 48 in my previous attempts. However I thought that my performance was much better than my previous attempts and expected a score above 55+,but I have managed to score only the minimum marks to complete the exams. I have passed P1,P2&P3 on my first attempt with the minimum mark of 50%. Completed AAA only on my 6th attempt and that was also with the minimum mark of 50%. I feel bit inferior that I have become an affiliate but failed to score a single mark above 50% in a single subject. You need to realize that ACCA is not an easy qualification to have. It remains very extensive and detailed. No short cuts. If ACCA did not think that 50 was a good enough score, the pass mark would have been 75% but its not. This means that you know enough to make good decisions in the corporate world.
You have done excellently well. You have made your papers and finally, you are an affiliate. Congratulations and well done!!!!.
