Yes, tax rates change every year, without a question.
January 22, 2014 at 5:48 pm #154329I always kept a mix of numbers and theory. Hence my vote would be for P1 and P2.
January 22, 2014 at 5:46 pm #154328You will just have to keep checking in now and then I suppose!
January 22, 2014 at 5:45 pm #154327January 22, 2014 at 5:37 pm #154323Hi,
I think you need to contact ACCA directly on this one.
All the best.
January 22, 2014 at 5:36 pm #154322Hi,
So topic 8 is “An analysis and evaluation of the business and financial performance of an organisation over a three year period”.
Here is what you need to do. List down your research objectives. See what you must do to achieve them. The questions you are posing area bit abstract. You need to realise that there are a lot of things which one could cover in the given topic, and no two viewpoints are similar. One of the primary things that bind you? The word count. Hence, narrow down your research objectives, and take it from there.
Btw, in my opinion, first two are pretty commonly covered in topic 8, but the last one might not be so relevant. My two cents.
Hope this helps!
December 28, 2013 at 9:20 pm #153561Hi,
I would suggest you opt for F9, P1 and P2. Here’s why:
1. Makes sense to take F9…its the only F level paper you will be left with! Besides, if you want to pursue OBU in the near future, you need to get F9 out of the way.
2. P1 is closely related to F8 wrt ethics and professionalism etc. Since you have been through the F8 content recently, P1 wont be too big a challenge.
3. P2…now, this might be a problem area for you, but now is the time to take it. Why? Well, firstly, you are still fresh on your F7 knowledge…adding onto it with P2 knowledge will be easier now than, say, 6 months from now. And “giving it some time” implies avoiding it till you can, as opposed to taking more time to prep for it. Because with 3 papers on your plate, the last thing you would want to spend your free time doing is brushing up on a paper you dont even want to attempt in the next session. A waste of time, and a highly impossible thing to do.
Its a good thing you know your problem area. It will help you plan your studies better. Find a good tutor, get loads of practice, and hopefully, you will clear this paper in the next attempt.
Good luck!
December 3, 2013 at 1:40 pm #149696Hey,
Im not sure what suggestion you need post-submission? Or are you planning on submitting the project in the next session?
December 3, 2013 at 1:39 pm #149694Hi!
So…there are users on this forum who are willing to help based on their experiences. Otherwise, Opentuition itself does not offer formal mentoring services.
Hope this helps!

Hi, you can compress images in word. Try that.
November 15, 2013 at 1:28 pm #146141Well, if you dont want to reduce your commentary, and only the word count, you need to shorten and condense your sentences.
November 14, 2013 at 6:03 pm #146060The main aim is to make the presentation look professional. Im not saying wonky circles will be the pivotal point…. it just requires a little bit of effort to make it look neat. Hope this helps!
November 14, 2013 at 11:34 am #145970When I was pursuing RAP, I was well over the word limit. And all that I had written seemed pretty good! So I know what you are going through….chopping down your work is harsh! But trust me, once you are done slicing it down, the project will become much more refined and have an increased flow. You wont regret it.
Have you attended a presentation before? Or perhaps one of your teachers/tutors employed slides to teach the class? Think about those when making your own slides instead of listening to experiences of others. Presentation slides are supposed to be a bird’s eye view of the project. Hence include the bits and bobs which are crucial. Including whole paragraphs is not recommended…after all, those should feature as a verbal portion of your presentation!
Hope that helps! Good luck!
P.S. dont wait till last minute to submit the project. A day or two before the deadline should be more prudent.

Salary itself is one of the motivating factors 🙂 and it is kind of an indicator of your skills/expertise. Think about it…the tough exams and 3 years of gruelling work experience before they hand over the title 😉
No problem, glad I could help someway 🙂
November 10, 2013 at 6:14 pm #145323Hi,
I think all the firms have their recruitment periods. Keep an eye out on their website…or call up their office, and ask them when they plan on recruiting a new batch.
All the best.
November 9, 2013 at 4:27 pm #145186We-ell, Im not sure. Have you discussed this with your mentor?
November 9, 2013 at 4:26 pm #145185Hi,
Ok, so have you included any image files in it? Apart from graphs etc? e.g. an image of the SWOT analysis table?
November 7, 2013 at 7:58 pm #144892If you make separate posts, why do you repeat the same thing in other posts?
Your question will be answered by someone. OBU forums are very active.
November 7, 2013 at 7:55 pm #144891Hi there,
Im not sure I follow…if you have everything that you need to become an ACCA member, then why wouldnt you apply for a membership? Why would you want to continue the ACCA Affiliate status?
I think to answer your own question, why dont you check out the job descriptions on the ACCA Careers website? Or other online job portals for that matter?
Best of luck!
November 7, 2013 at 7:51 pm #144890Hi, I really think you should establish a new topic instead of posting in the topics of others. That way others can benefit as well if they are wondering about the same things.
Your recommendations should only be about the company your project is based on. Competitors are there for comparison, not for analysis.
Yes actually, it must all be in first person. I think the term OBU uses is “self-reflection” ….so yeah, its all “I”s and “Me”s.
Best of luck!
November 7, 2013 at 7:46 pm #144889With regard to your first post, I really think that is a non-issue. Many students take a bit of time in getting done with the project, which could span over one period. They are more concerned with whether the information inside is up to date. Btw, next to created, there is a modified date as well 🙂 so maybe it was created in March, but it is being modified in November. So no worries. If it still worries you, you can simply copy all the content on a new document. New created date, problem solved:)
With regard to your second post….out of curiousity…are you talking about the comments inserted while tracking changes? In that case, you have to accept or reject the changes, and then save the file. Shouldnt be a problem after that. Let me know if it still troubles you though.
No problem, happy to help 🙂
November 7, 2013 at 5:18 pm #144870Hi,
Mark it as “Final”. Click on the Office Button in MS Word, then “Prepare”, and then “Mark as Final”. If you press the keypad accidentally, it wont make any changes. If you do want to make changes later, then just unmark it.
Hope this helps.
November 7, 2013 at 5:15 pm #144868Hi,
You mean the website is giving a disclaimer on the information it provides? If yes, then no, its not reliable.
Regards.
November 5, 2013 at 8:26 pm #144654Hiya,
I don’t know if there is actually a requirement for title page (will have to refer to the OBU Infopack for that!)…but let me tell you one thing…I made a title page for each and every section of the project. Like one for Part 1,2,3…one for sls, and so on. Just gives it a more professional and organised look in my opinion. And its not like its a lot of work.
Good luck!
November 4, 2013 at 1:57 pm #144524Hi Justine:
I’m just going to list down what I did, and hopefully there is a tip or two in there that will help you:
1. Opentuition lectures multiple times for topics that were confusing. For me, that was swaps. I listened to those, and solved the mini questions till I understood.
2. I went through the textbook atleast twice, because the concepts are complex and easily forgotten.
3. Do the kit thoroughly. You should know why each step is being done in the question. If you dont understand something, utilise the “Ask the Tutor” forums to the max. These are the little things that will help you in tricky areas in the exam.
4. SA articles. I think I probably read all of them, even the really old ones. Just so I was certain there was nothing I missed,
5. Realise that its not a purely calculation based paper. There is quite a bit of written requirement to it. Dont undermine the importance of theory bits, alright?
6. Last, but not the least….time management. Allocate time according to marks. If you havent finished a question in the given time limit, drop it and move on. You are losing easy marks in the next question.
All the best!
