Sorry to stray off the topic but i really need to know from the students that passed p6
1. which study text was used Kaplan or Bpp
2. Did any body study with any of the tuition providers online for P6I pray some responds as i have failed twice and this time i really want to cover all my bases as this is my final paper
Thanks much in advanceI passed with 55% and did an online BPP revision course.
The key to passing this exam is definitely exam technique. Practice, practice, practice!

Passed with 77%. I’m now an Affiliate 🙂
Thank you to all who contributed to the revision sessions which has helped me enormously! And to you too Amanda. There were some great revision courses this time around.
Congratulations!February 8, 2013 at 9:17 am #11586655% for me.
A big thank you to Savvy, Mary, YSBQ, Sue, and anyone else who I’ve surely missed that contributed so well in the revision sessions.
It’s been a long journey but all done now too!
December 6, 2012 at 1:48 pm #110395I ran out of time. Had to write only part answers.
Thought it was hard.
December 5, 2012 at 9:49 am #110143Growth g + 1 = (most recent / earliest) ^ 1/n
So if it’s for 4 years n = 3
So take Restaurants for example, (10968/10752)^1/3 =1.006652
Minus the 1 and you get 0.67%Hope that helps.
November 28, 2012 at 2:15 pm #108629It’s from the June 2011 paper.
The model answer takes each year’s growth and then averages it.
I think this will take too much time in the exam, and you can see that there is a trend to the growth/decline, so you can take the average over the 4 years instead.
For example, for Restaurants:
(10968/10752)^1/3 = 1.0
Hope that helps.

Can you sit for P2,P3 and P7 in the same session?
ThanksIf you have passed, or are also sitting for, P1 then yes, you can.
September 24, 2012 at 7:43 am #75841Thank you very much for your reply.
I guess it wouldn’t hurt going through the paper though anyway?
August 3, 2012 at 8:44 am #102346June 27, 2012 at 8:07 pm #101675As you’re not allowed to leave exams early, there is no advantage.
The exams may not start at exactly the same time any more, but they’re timed such that they overlap.

I was under the impression I’d have to sit the mandatory P papers before I could do the options. I’ve only ever entered for P1 previously at P level so I wasn’t aware I could do that.I get to save myself an exam fee ^-^
jaysuey51, I thought that was the case too; i.e. If you want to sit an optional paper; e.g. P7, you will have to also sit for P1, P2, and P3.
Probably best to check with ACCA.
I believe that this is unless you’ve been taking exams for a while and have come up from the old 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc system.

Interesting. So if you didn’t show up to F7 and F9, but sat and passed P1 and P2, you would still get marks for them? Sort of a work around the progression rules?
Yes. Remember you can only take a maximum of four exams in each sitting though.
Also, if you’ve studied for P2, you might as well take F7 as the syllabus will have been covered anyway.
June 21, 2012 at 11:09 am #101579I think you misunderstand what I say.
Worse case scenario is that you fail F7 and F9.
When it comes to book your exams for December, you book (and pay) for F7, F9, P1 and P2. You will not be able to check the boxes for P1 or P2 unless F7 and F9 are checked.
You can then sit for P1 and P2 and not turn up for F7 or F9 if you choose not to.
June 21, 2012 at 9:47 am #101577You can sit for P1 and P2, but will have to also pay to sit for F7 and F9 if you’ve failed them.
It’s your choice as to whether you actually sit the exam though.

i honestly have no idea if anything i wrote was correct now.some things seemed to make sense at the time but fluffed it on Eva and mirr and on other calculations. at first glance the questions seemed okay but they were not straightforward. my main problem i think was writing my discussionsas they seemed tofly all over the shop.i hope i did just enough but it will be touch and go… roll on p6!…. not…!Ditto.
Thought that was tough, but managed to write something at the time.
Could go either way.

https://www2.accaglobal.com/pubs/students/publications/student_accountant/archive/sa_mar12_p5_perfprism.pdfMay 21, 2012 at 9:16 pm #96850With respect sksuthar – what are you talking about?!
As far as I am aware the three tests are still applicable.
May 16, 2012 at 9:29 pm #95033I’d be interested too.
February 13, 2012 at 9:38 am #9389956% – found the paper really hard, so am really surprised and happy with that!
January 26, 2012 at 12:51 pm #92798I think that it is possible; I’m assuming you have exemptions from all the other F papers?
I think sitting F7 and P2 in the same sitting is an excellent idea and will benefit you greatly.
I’d say about 80% of P2 is F7.
December 13, 2011 at 3:50 pm #91951Thought it was a tough paper – but they always are!
Hopefully, I did enough to pass.Did anyone actually answer question 2?!
December 8, 2011 at 8:12 pm #91419Excuse me for butting in, but I think I know the answer…
At 31/05/20X8 there is a gain] of 1.5 (51 – 49.5).
That goes to Other Components of Equity. At 31/05/20X9 there is a loss of 17.4 (51 – 33.6), but 1.5 must be taken from Other Components of Equity first leaving 15.9 to take away from Retained Earnings.
August 22, 2011 at 7:51 am #87053Passed with 57%
Very happy as my answers were very different to the examiner’s!
August 22, 2011 at 7:49 am #86662Second time araound – 61%
So relieved – don’t want to see F9 ever again! - AuthorPosts
