    Hi,

I just sat F7 and F9, and if I pass them that will have completed the Fundamentals level.

I’m eager to crack on with P1 and P2 in December so would like to get the study texts and book in for the exams. However, if it turns out that I failed F7 and F9 will I be allowed to sit P1 and P2?

Of course I won’t know that until August…

You can sit for P1 and P2, but will have to also pay to sit for F7 and F9 if you’ve failed them.

It’s your choice as to whether you actually sit the exam though.

I am happy to pay to re-sit them, but would I have to re-sit them in December before I could sit P1 and P2?

Would it be against the progression rules if I did?

I think you misunderstand what I say.

Worse case scenario is that you fail F7 and F9.

When it comes to book your exams for December, you book (and pay) for F7, F9, P1 and P2. You will not be able to check the boxes for P1 or P2 unless F7 and F9 are checked.

You can then sit for P1 and P2 and not turn up for F7 or F9 if you choose not to.

    Interesting.

So if you didn’t show up to F7 and F9, but sat and passed P1 and P2, you would still get marks for them? Sort of a work around the progression rules?

Yes but you’d still have to go back and sit F7 & F9 at some point but it can be useful (and more expensive)

Next sitting I will enter for P2, P3 & P7 then not attend P3. This will let me sit 2 papers which compliment each other and are a week apart in sitting.

Yes. Remember you can only take a maximum of four exams in each sitting though.

Also, if you’ve studied for P2, you might as well take F7 as the syllabus will have been covered anyway.

    Hi,

Why do u want to enter P3 if you dont wish to sit for it? I mean if you happen to have last 4 papers to do ie P2,P3,P7 and another optional paper, you can still chose P2 and P7 only and sit for those exams.

There is no harm in omitting P3. I have 4 papers left ie P2,P3,P6 and P7 and i checked and got confirmation from ACCA that i can do whichever combinations of papers like in June i can chose to do P3 and P6 and the following sem P2 and P7.

    @kzzrd

    Oh right thats good then.

I was under the impression I’d have to sit the mandatory P papers before I could do the options. I’ve only ever entered for P1 previously at P level so I wasn’t aware I could do that.

I get to save myself an exam fee ^-^

jaysuey51, I thought that was the case too; i.e. If you want to sit an optional paper; e.g. P7, you will have to also sit for P1, P2, and P3.

Probably best to check with ACCA.

I believe that this is unless you’ve been taking exams for a while and have come up from the old 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc system.

Do you have a link to the exam schedule? It would be useful to know when they are going to be set.
