I’d advice to go for SBL..but dont waste your time with the study text..u can use open tuition, kaplan practice kits and most importantly watch Hasan Dosani’s videos on YouTube on SBL..you would definitely pass if you watch Hasan’s videos
January 18, 2021 at 12:41 am #606424Passed!!! 53%..1st attempt with APM after 2 failed attempts with AFM..Finally an affliate!!!!!
January 15, 2021 at 9:13 pm #606011I got exemption for the applied skills exams, so i never attempted it.
I have written AAA, SBL and SBR which i passed once and have failed AFM twice..so obviously the most difficult exam for me was AFM..while i wrote APM once and awaiting results for it…my easiest and most interesting exam is AAA, followed closely by SBL.
AAA opened my eyes to what auditors actually do and though i have no work experience in this field, i can confidently say i understand what auditors do.
However, i really enjoyed studying for APM as it taught me a lot about management accounting and the workings of a manufacturing company especially (i have interest in specializing as an FP&A).
My problem with AFM is that it is really really technical and might be a bit problematic if you aren’t interested in corporate finance and capital markets or have working experience in that field. I had tried the CFA exams in the past and failed Level 1 twice, so it’s safe to say Corporate Finance isn’t my best suit
My advise for students is to show genuine interest in the strategic professional papers, savour it , understand it and enjoy it but then dont forget to look out for what the examiner wants..apart from OT, i got some tutors online that were useful in tackling some of these courses..for AAA – Kashif Kamran, SBL – Hasani Dosani and APM – Rizwan Maniya.
All the best results to everyone!
January 15, 2021 at 6:07 pm #605978I just got an email from ACCA tagged “Take the next Step” and it was all about about booking my next exam in March. I’m a finalist and wrote the APM CBE exam in December 2020
October 19, 2020 at 6:20 am #590153Failed..40%..2nd attempt..was supposed to be my last paper as i wrote SBL & AFM this diet and i passed SBL (on first attempt)..finally letting go of AFM & going for APM in December instead so i can celebrate being an affiliate in Jan 2021.Congrats to those who passed and to the affiliates.
October 19, 2020 at 6:16 am #590148Passed with 54%..first attempt..discovered MNN’s SBL videos by Hasan Dossani 3 weeks to the exam which greatly helped me (as i didnt read the study test)..also did some practice questions..wrote 2 papers, SBL & AFM (2nd attempt)..failed AFM..would have ben an affiliate if i passed. would switch over to APM for Dec diet instead.
April 13, 2020 at 4:50 pm #568042Failed 34%.
Considering i prepared a month to exam, didnt answer any of the theoretical questions, only focused on the calculation questions and barely touched Question 1, i consider this a pass mark for me. Perhaps, AFM isn’t that hard afterall.
Was considering doing APM instead but with this score, i’ll give AFM a try in September and
perhaps combine it with SBL which should be my last paper.Congrats to all those who scaled through.
January 13, 2020 at 2:01 pm #558396Passed 55%. 1st attempt.
Prepared in 4 weeks using a mixture of everything..a bit of BPP/Kaplan kit, Emile Woolf, Open Tuition and most importantly KASHIF KAMRAN You Tube videos on strategies to pass the exam (which i discovered 9 days to the exam). I did all this with a full time 9-5 job and only took a day off to write the exams. I was so overwhelmed with a lot of things that i never had the time to solve a full question..the 1st full AAA question i ever solved was in the exam hall. 2 down, 2 to go. Planning to write AFM and SBL in March. I hope my gamble works this time.
P.S I do not have any audit experience. You do not necessarily have to have audit experience to pass this exam.
October 14, 2019 at 4:39 pm #549517Got 56%, my first attempt, prepared in 7 weeks and i fell ill days to the exam, couldn’t revise and was still ill on the day of the exam..i’m still in shock..cos i was sure i would get less than 30% and was preparing to take SBR and AAA in March 2020. This is a real miracle…i’m motivated to attempt AAA in December 2019
