If you read the march 2017 countdown to results forum you’ll see it’s written in details there .
It’s not a secret recipe it’s just a link which suggested that finalists passed or not ( this is just a vague explanation) .
Best to read that forum for details .

I myself was curious and checked the link for my results too , as I did pass in the end I felt that this link theory was maybe a glitch in the acca system which helped anticipate the results before hand (weather affiliate or not )

You will see there were people for whom this theory didn’t work as well . So to be honest I can’t conclude anything but solely based on my opinion I would just say it’s a ” theory ” after all and it can be a mere coincidence that I passed .

So I don’t know , you be your own judge . Have a look read the comment from that forum and decide . πŸ™‚

    Hope this helps

53 passed. this was my fourth attempt. another one of acca papers i was struggling with. but this time i relied solely on open tuition rathen than spending bucks on BPP and LSBF.( not defaming anyone, but just sharing my personal opinion).

Ask acca tutor forum and the open tuition lecture was unbelievably helpful.

    now am an affiliate!!!!

    thank youuuuu

62 Passed!!. first time . This open tuition community has been immensely helpful up until the march 2017 countdown forum too.

was very sceptical of the link theory. although still not sure if it was mere coincidence or not. but anyways. really happy.

i must say having such a tough and unique paper i really didnt expect such a score. i have been a so-so student through acca so this is a big achievement for me and this was possible only because of Mr Johns basic advice:
    – do the kit cover to cover 3/4 times
    -understand the basic
    – wastch the opention lectures.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR!!!!!!

first of all do apologise for opening a new thread, as after i already did i read all your instructions about this forum

so do accept my apology in this regard as im a newcomer. πŸ™‚

    my question.

    hi

    just a few questions.

1.where should i send my english language proficiency certificate as a proof? i have an IELTS so am i supposed to email to oxford brooks or ACCA?

    2. i have passed 11 acca papers so do i actually need to show proficiency certificate or something?

3.what is the last date to show english language proof for period 34?

4.i have passed f4 on the december 2014 session so would that be ok as a proof. as im confused if its FROM december 2014 session it wont be valid or thats the LAST session.

sorry if im asking these questions again if you have already answered this any where before.

    best regards

    hi sir

i just wanted to know in order to get the marks for the assumptions im making , do i have to state the “reason” for the assumptions like they do in the model answers.

for example,(tramont co) – the borrowing rate of 5% has been used to calculate the PV of the tax shield benefits. the Rf rate of 3% could have been used instead but it felt more prudent to use the 5% rate.

here if it were me i wouldve just wrote, the borrowing rate of 5% has been used to calculate the PV of the tax shield benefits.

i dont know if this is making sense to you . πŸ™‚

    thanks

    hi sir,

sorry if ive missed thos obvious point.

but could you point out as to where this figure came from :-

    part b) payments= libor/2 +0.6%

    where is 0.6 coming from?

also one last question on this one, whilst calculating the effective annual interest rate , arithmetically rather than putting the figures in the formula , can we just double the interest rate for 6 months which is 3.30% X 2 = which also gives 6.7%?

    thanks alot.

    hi sir

regarding this topic, ive read your article, course notes and also have seen your lectures on interest rates.

anyways i just want you to correct me if im wrong, in the concepts that i have acquired . below are the points.

    1) call /put strike price:- these were the combination of prices that would give us the minimum interest rates( if we are depositing) and the (maximum interest rates if we are borrowing )
so for call strike price the max is 95750
for put strike price the min is 95250

so we will find three possible out comes from the three strike prices given.

2)interest rate:- now , im not 100% sure on this one.
but the reason we are using the call strike price interest rate ( i mean to say (100-95.75) and (100-95.50)so we are using the call strike price )
is because that is because thats the maximum we would ever agree upon.

and the put strike price was not, because minimum interest could be anything under 4.25% and 4.5% and we would consider .

im not sure f you get what im saying but thats sort of the logic i came up with in simple terms.

3)the 0.25% thats was deducted was the LIBOR minus 25 basis point.
but i dont understand why this is deducted though? so this is one of my questions.

4)the premiums are obviously undertandable , they are from their respective strike prices.

and netting all of this will give us the net receipt.

apologies for making this lengthy .
    thanks for your time sir.
    regards

    hi sir ,
please could you explain how the premium would be equal or “less” than$ 300.
why is there a possibility of being less?

    thank you sir
im clear until here and the brief description you have given i understand that concept.

the only difficulty i was facing was when doing the kit questions and getting stuck in step 2.

but i guess its only through practice that i will get better.

    thanks alot.
