    hi sir,

i guess youve heard similar issues like this before, but ive gone through the lectures/notes and syllabus. i obviously dont know and understand 100% but like the rest of the 13 papers acca papers ive gone though the same process with p4, first knowledge and then starting the kit.

but what ive noticed is that almost every p4 question is different and to me it has something new in every other question, something i have no idea how it came to place(mainly calculations).so im starting to doubt what ive actually accumulated in the learning phase.

i tried to attempt the questions myself according to what youve taught in lectures but it doesnt seem to match then i obviously see the answers.

why do you think im finding the questions (esp risk mangmnt) very diffucult , do you reckon its because maybe i need to study each topic more in depth (say suppose from the study manuals, which is like hundreds of pages)
or just keep doing the kit cover to cover and hope for the best.

ive read the interviews of the prize winning candidates in the OT website /, trying to figure out what they do differently, so that i can have some idea or progression in this paper(just enough to manage a 50). 🙂

after all i only have 1 month left.

    thanks alot for your time
    best regards,
    a very concerned student

Do appreciate that almost everyone attempting P4 feels exactly the same as you, so do not get too depressed by it.

Also appreciate that for Question 1 in particular, there is never just one ‘correct’ answer – so much depends on assumptions which is why the question almost always asks you to state your assumptions and why it is vital that you do so.

The main thing is to make sure that your workings are clear enough for the markers to be able to understand what you are trying to do. If it is clear that you basically understand the topic you are trying to answer then you will get most of the marks even if you end up getting the numbers completely wrong.

Do watch my lectures working through a few past question 1’s – you can find them linked from here:
    https://opentuition.com/acca/afm/afm-revision-lectures/

Otherwise just keep working through your revision kit – especially the past exam questions since 2010 (when the current examiner took over – the previous examiner used to set dreadful questions).
