The ACCA have a range of qualifications for those who want a career in accountancy but either do not want the full ACCA Qualification or do not have the necessary entry requirements for the full Qualification.
The ACCA FIA Foundation Level Qualifications range consists of:
Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting
* to obtain this certificate it is necessary to pass two examinations
* the certificate proves that you have the knowledge necessary to perform a junior accounting role
Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting
* to obtain this certificate it is necessary to pass two examinations
* this certificate proves that you have the knowledge necessary to perform a bookkeeping or cost clerk role in a small to medium sized organisation
Diploma in Accounting and Business
* to obtain this diploma it is necessary to pass three examinations
* the diploma proves that you have the knowledge necessary to become a trainee accountant in a commercial organisation or accounting practice
Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)

These prove to employers that you have a certain level of ability and knowledge.
They are progressive in that you can improve your knowledge and qualifications if you so wish.
Studying for the ACCA FIA (Foundation Level Qualifications)
You can study in any way you like – you can attend courses, study at home with books, or study on-line.
Free study materials for these Qualification are available on the OpenTuition website
The exams are held twice a year – in June and in December – and at each sitting you can attempt as many exams as you like. There is no time limit for completing the exams.
Examinations are held throughout the world.
HOW TO REGISTER AS A STUDENT WITH THE ACCA
You must register as a student with the ACCA before starting to take the examinations.
This can be done on-line using the ACCA’s website ( www.accaglobal.com )
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The only compulsory costs are those payable to the ACCA. They charge a registration fee, an annual subscription while you are a student, and an exam fee each time you take an examination. You can find the current costs on the ACCA website ( www.accaglobal.com )
These costs do not cover the cost of studying for the exams. This depends on how you choose to study.
