I meant that in the annual report 2016, the extract of the FS includes the years 2016,2015, 2014 together. Do i need to include the 2015 annual report as will be the same financial statements but the other 3 years included 2015,14,13.

This was my question.. is it okay to include it like this?

Hi,

there is recommendation to upload only referenced pages of annual report instead of full report. In my report I am referring to annual reports often. I provide page number in in text citation. Having said that, do you think it would be acceptable to upload 6 financial statements (3 fiscal year of my company and three for comparator.)?? Or better is to extract from PDF only relevant pages?

I submitted by RAP yesterday and not that I can do anything about that but I just wanted to confirm that while referencing my report yesterday, the approach that I followed was that if an article in Sydney Morning Herald was written by Jamie Freed in 2016 then in the author’s field I wrote Jamie Freed’s name and not of the newspaper ie Sydney Morning Herald so that the reference appeared as (Freed, 2016).

Is that okay?

And moreover I had done my parts 1 and 2 last year but could not complete part 3.Therefore for those references I merely had to make guesses for the dates of access. Is that okay?

I did not mention that in my SLS and this has got me worried as I did not think this was going to be an issue.

Moreover I was told by my mentor not to use any direct citations which I had. Not one but two. When my mentor did warn me about using direct citations, I changed that in my report and rephrased them and remover the inverted commas. But I just checked the RAP that I had submitted and those direct citations are still there. Maybe I did not save my file after removing them and rephrasing them. Will I be penalized on that? As my mentor told me about a student who failed his RAP as he had used a direct citation.

Secondly I mentioned in part 1 that I will be using SWOT and Porter’s 5 forces but after going through your comments in the airline thread I changed my selection to SWOT and PEST and did my business and financial analysis using both those models but forgot to mention PEST instead of Porter’s 5 forces. Anything to worry?

I hope this question is acceptable to ask.

I am having trouble citing code principles/ provisions, that is, I am not sure of the appropriate way to do it at the end of the narration of what the principle requires.

At first I thought I have to cite the code for example (FRC, 2016). But if I do it this way it means each principle/ provision I cite, will have (FRC, 2016) after it.

Then I thought maybe I should cite : (section B.1 ).

Is the first method the required one?

Depending on your wording and the context “Principle B2 of the code (FRC 2016)” should be sufficient.

Where you haven’t actually introduced the Principle in the sentence I think it would be acceptable to do either of the following in your RAP as a reference:

(FRC, 2016, s. B.2) or
(Code, 2016 s.B.2)
as both of these as they include section numbers are near enough to guide the reader. Whilst of course you may put in page numbers I don’t consider it necessary and it uses up another word or two!

I am using “Referencing” feature of MS Word and using “Insert Footnote” feature for referencing purposes. This makes referencing similar to the wikipedia style. Is this fine ?

The Information pack Appendix 3, prescribes the Referencing guide. I personally feel that using the Wikipedia style, where references are mentioned in footer, brings more clarity to the document.
What do you suggest ? Should I go with the referencing guide as per Appendix 3, or Wikipedia style is better ?

I am talking about the reference list. Can I use online Harvard referencing generator sites to prepare my reference list?

When I used Citethisforme.com for one example the result was showed like this :

In MS office Harvard referencing the result came like this:

Teresa Cederholm, 2014. Global airline passenger traffic and capacity continue to grow. [Online]
Available at: https://marketrealist.com/2014/12/global-airline-passenger-traffic-continues-grow/
[Accessed 25 OCTOBER 2017].

But in the OBU info pack it has been shown like this for another site :

Jones, P. and Evans, J. (2006). Urban regeneration, governance and the state: exploring notions of distance and proximity. Urban Studies 43(9), pp.1491-1509. Academic Search Complete [Online]. Available at: https://web.ebscohost.com (Accessed 17 August 2010)

You can understand the difference easily by looking at it.

In one part of Info pack, it is saying that ” There are a number of ways in which the Harvard Referencing System can be presented, and all of these are, therefore ‘correct’.”

and on the next page there is another sentence : “In the examples given below, pay attention to the punctuation, and in your own work, copy it exactly as it is set out – put the full stop in where it is placed in the example, and leave it out, if it isn’t in the example.”

All I wanted to ask you is that do I need to TYPE each and every reference by paying attention to punctuations, full stop etc. Or can I use citethoisforme, Harvard generator or ms office inbuilt 2013 referencing software to do my reference list? Keep in mind all are generating different type of reference lists.

Further to above mentioned post I would like to ask about the page number mentioning mechanism in case of documents/files obtained from web page.
If a document from web page has mentioned page numbers on the file, the page numbers mentioned on the file should be used or the page number of the pdf file generated should be used ?
e.g. the document’s page number in 25, but it is the 30th page in the document. In this case, 25 should be used or 30 , as reference?

Please, tell me is it importnt to make part 1 exactly of 1000 words and part 2 of 2000. My words are 7500 words but part 2 is just 1300 and part 1 is approx 1000. Will it become problem or will they ignore it ?

-it is normally treated as an interview however you could include the document you received back as an appendix and refer the reader to it

With page numbering it is the page number of the original document not the electronic pdf page that should be used.

With figures you can normally refer to the Appendices Excel spreadsheet and just show at the top of the tab a reference to the Annual Report (as there are only a few pages where the financial statements can be found)

Regarding other questions please read the full Guide which I produced because it is convenient for students to have a good clear guide (and also because I just do not have the time to keep answering the same questions)

Thank you so much. I was really tensed as typing each reference is a time-consuming process.

One more thing, which one do you prefer after looking at the above reference that I posted?
