I am trying to reference what is a technical article on the acca website –
This is how I have it referenced. Can someone confirm if it is correct please ?
Assume it should be classed as an online article but cant find volume and page numbers

It looks fine except the link you have provided does not go direct to the article – you need to use the link that does directly link to John Ball’s article if possible e.g.

First and last links are identical but used two times in RAP, Kindly help!@umerkhayam – As you are only using 2 website links you only need to reference 2 so your first version is correct (see the Golden Rules – 4 & 8 on our homepage)

And in the year row should i name them all 2015 or the year it was published in?

Yes that’s fine.
If you are citing from more than one page from the same source within your report that you insert the different page numbers in the text but then omit them in the list (as you should only list the same document once). If only using the document once in the text it is fine to have the page number either in the text or list or in both.

Really worried, as after rechecking my submissions, I noticed I made 2 mistakes regarding my referencing. But everything else seems just right.
1. In this instance I cited (Steve, date) in the report, while in my reference list I had Steven. This was for one of my limitation points, out of 6 in total.
2. While reexamining all my referenced web-links before submission, I noticed that one site I used, had included in the fine print at the bottom, to reference to either the name of the site or a particular name. I decided to switch to the name put there, as its the preference. I update my reference list to this name. But only updated 1 of the 2 citations I gave in the report. Both citations follow each other. The other citation still carries the site name and won’t be seen on the reference list.
All my other 40 plus references are fine, as far I can tell. Just in how much trouble I am.
@montelik – on the scale of things these are minor details. As I say in my article you are allowed the odd slip (even did one or two myself accidentally in my Masters degree disseration). So stop worrying and chill baby, chill! 🙂

@Trephena – You were right, I passed regardless. Thanks for the help and reassurance. Though I wonder if that was why I only got a B instead of an A. lol
@montelik – I very much doubt it. The assessment criteria for Information gathering and Referencing are competent or not competent i.e. you either pass or fail that section.
For a start only about 3% of RAPs get an A. To get an A normally means a student has shown that they have put a lot of original critical thought into their work and a significant amount of detailed research, structured their work well so that if flows, is very clear and reads really well. You really have to impress the marker, ‘go the extra mile’ and stand out from the crowd.
A grade B is still a good grade and only achieved by about 13% of submissions although you may be disappointed on a personal level, I don’t think you should be. Also put it in perspective – it hardly affects your honours classification. (You might also remember 40% of students failed and some even at the 3rd attempt, so after a significant investment in both time and money they end up with nothing 🙁 )
The main difference between an A and an F is that the first has thrilled the marker, whereas the latter has killed them!

For referencing part when doing Obu,if the e-book showing whole of the book does not have page numbers,then this kind of source of information can using or not?
If can,the reference just put author name then follow by the publication year,that all should be adequate by no having page number?

Someone help me with this please. I am writing the general information like “Ratio Analysis definition including its limitation etc” I want to know that is it ok to copy definition from dictionary or website (online dictionary) or ACCA book and write down in my RAP without editing and rewriting?
Also please let me know that I am writing the introduction paragraph of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry. The information has been gather from 5 different sources, Do i need to mention soure in each sentense of the five references at the end of whole introduction?
In response to your first query – no and to the second, yes.
You have obviously not read or understood the Golden Rules set out in The Open Tuition Ultimate Guide to Referencing your RAP so I suggest before you go any further you ensure that you do.

I have two concerns:
1. I downloaded 2 different harvard style referencing guide and both explain different ways of referencing websites. For instance in one, the emphasis is on writing only the surname of the author in citing as well as in referencing. Eg if the name is John Legend. They are telling to just refer as (Legend, YEAR) and the other guide is explaining to use the first name as well when referencing. Are these both guides correct? Which one should i be following?
2. If the annual report is for the year 2013 and it got published in 2014, do i have to cite the publish year or the year to which the annual report belongs? when citing, will i use (ABC, 2013) or (ABC, 2014).Trephena
If i use a companys Annual report,and citizenahip report for topic 20 do i cite them like the following,

So basically What i am doing the intext citation is same for both report but i am distinguishing them when i am doing referencing.is it ok?please help me.This is driving me crazy as i have used information from this reports extensively for my RR.Thanks in advance and sorry i have repeayed the question if it was already presented in the forum.
