Hey, in Question 4, Why did some of you use high low method ?? I still remember, in the question, it was written Fixed Overhead Cost. Why did you split it into variable and fixed overhead ??

what u guys wrote about ZBB? 9 marks? I said giving priorities to Decision package will be the biggest challenge due to Natural disaster. Than implementing ZBB in one month’s time is quite difficult and so on !

Left this til last and really rushed it so don’t think I’ll get much at all.

Both the points you made are good so should score you marks – wish I’d put them!!

Fixed cost wasnt constant… it included some Variable portion too !

demand was already set on the question.. 144500 wasn’t the demand i guess just need to use it for deriving suitable price.

But, if we assume that they will sell at the optimum price, that would be the demand. What was listed in the table was to show costs at various demand levels in order to calculate MC for the equation.

Can anyone remember Q about labour efficiency planning and operating variances?
    I think I messed up…

I calculated production time for the 1000th unit and used it as revised time … it was 2.08 hrs

Abdul, ass far as I remember there was 90% learning rate for the first 1000 units which wasn’t taken originally into account.
That is why I calculated the time for the 1000th unit and used it in calculation of planning and operating variance.
But again I am not sure whether it was the correct way of doing it.

    A fair amount.

Really mentioned that it was may be difficult to rank which of the services it provided was the most usefull as it had around 7 different services.
The problem with extreme disasters may lead to increased budget for these as last years problems may be accounted for in this year budget as the costs and revenues for next year may be expected to be greater due to last years problem and the next budget being so close to the event.
The problem of short term goals being preferred to longer terms goals and therefore the waste bins may not have resources allocated to it as the initial investment cost were large and the benefits were long term.

Since the learning rate hadn’t finished yet I calculated the time for 460 units as that was how long that month’s production actually took. Don’t think the 1000th unit was relevant here as we weren’t trying to come up with a new cost for the product or anything – we were trying to compare budget and actual (split for the revised time).

I can’t remember the mark allocations but we shouldn’t lose much. You get follow on marks either way so if the calculation of the revised hours is wrong but the method for the variance is correct we still get the variance marks just not the revised hours marks.

    Section A was ok
Section B : TP , ZBB and efficiency variance were difficult
ABC and Demand Curve were ok.
