    Hope so!

And my profit figure seemed ridiculously high ($20m odd) which made me doubt myself when I’d calculated the fixed overheads at $800,000.

I have got 20 profit and 800 000 fixed overhead, exactly as you have done. Nothing odd, the numbers were reasonable.

I felt q2 was more theoretical. I calculated the contribution per unit if m sells externally and the contribution per unit if m sells to s using the price offered by the new supplier (ie $800) less 740 (ie 770-30) and decided that the best price would be somewhere between 800 and the marginal cost of m producing an extra unit.

I calculated that transfer price… like 30k should be based on marginal costing. and 5k on marginal plus Contribution?

How did everyone find the operational variance question? The i guessed the revised standard using the learning rate @ an extra 2 hours so approx 9 hours compared to orginal standard of 7 hours…then explained planning variance out of managers control bla bla..????

    Q4 exactly the same 🙂 P=310-0.001Q , MR = MC , Q = 144500, price 165,5 (quantity & price maximizing profit), as price was 165,5 and variable costs 21 per unit, contribution was 144,5 $ x (as far as I remember 250’000 units? ) – fixed cost of 800k

Excellent, we have concensus on Q4 – that’s a start!

How about the rest of them?

Q1 – can’t remember my figures for the total costs of the procedures but the wordy bit I said that since they only changed the existing costs by a small amount it may not be worth implementing ABC due to the costs involved – not sure that was right?

Q2 – Think it was something like 1298 hrs for the 460 units with the learning rate so my planning variance was favourable but op. variance adverse

Q3 – Not a clue!! Think I put 30,000 units at $740 and buy 5000 units externally but fairly sure I made a mess of that one.

Q5 – Yikes – load of waffle on that one I’m afraid.

I think I calculated the total time for the units as 1298 and then compared for the variance using the standard rate of $12.

The wordy bit about the implications:

Temporary workers on three month contract so will have too much labour as based on incorrect time

Manager will get a bonus because overall variance favourable but shouldn’t because op variance adverse

Stock – will run out because planned on slower usage

Something else I can’t remember for the life of me based on the question detail.

I said stocked will be higher because Cost is higher if learning rate is not taken into account :/ High cost Low demand !

266 000 but not sure,,,I have not calculated depreciation, as the question said before taking depreciation.

Can you remember what D was? I can’t remember what letter I put or the % but I do remember deducting depreciation.
