Finally passed SBL with 59%, third attempt (the only exam ever failed). 🙂
Now I’m an affiliate!
Never give up! and thanks so much opentuition!!!! passed most of my exams only with the help of OT!
Can’t believe this journey is over, it’s been 5 years start to end.January 15, 2021 at 11:01 am #605921Ohh thanks, Kim, I thought no one liked my suggestion haha.
Good story to share, I’m also passionate about music, but more into singing than playing instruments. Glad you found joy in a long lost hobby!
As I generally love the arts, I actually started drawing and painting during lockdowns almost everyday, as well as journaling – such as writing each day 3 things you are grateful for, so that we can focus our minds more on the positives. And discovered another new hobby – applying make-up, perhaps because it’s related to the painting side, I find it so relaxing, creative and interesting to learn.January 14, 2021 at 4:07 pm #605823I don’t rely on any theories and it feels much better that there are no such ‘theories’ on this thread honestly, such a breath of fresh air!
Shall we change the topic until Sunday to something more interesting – like sharing your favourite movies/series? Maybe we can watch some really good ones, and time will pass by more quickly.
A few good movies I watched – all time:
The Shawshank Redemption – classic, Inside Man, Arbitrage, The age of Adaline, The theory of everything, The pursuit of happiness, Catch me if you can, Law abiding citizen, An officer and a gentleman, Freedom writers, The reader, Pay it forwardThe Queen’s Gambit and the Crown are my fav series. Your turn.
October 22, 2020 at 2:20 pm #591104I’ve done English and it’s quite straightforward, no idea about other variants. If you’re more numerical, I recommend F6, was my highest mark followed by F4. The hardest for me was F9 I think.
October 20, 2020 at 5:00 pm #590825Hi, hope this helps, he seems very good based on my research and will go ahead with his courses. Yes, quite expensive, but so are multiple failed exams.
https://www.seanpurcell.co.uk/October 19, 2020 at 10:41 pm #590643Hi, yes same here, had an epic fail on SBL despite answering all questions, respecting the structures, applying models, having done all past papers and exam kit case studies, and knowing all theory. I’m wondering the same – maybe not all my answers were saved? I called and asked today, but they said to just apply for admin review. I just want to know if all my answers were indeed uploaded!
October 19, 2020 at 7:29 pm #590605Hi, I’m also looking for a good SBL private tutor so that we can work on one to one sessions and provide feedback on mock exams!!
I have done all existing case studies, read all theory, answered all questions in the required structure and time in exams, and still failed SBL twice (only exam I’ve ever failed!), so highly interested in getting more personal feedbacks.
Thanks
October 17, 2020 at 12:55 am #589397Shall we create a separate thread once results are out to test today’s event, just say ‘passed – did/did not receive email’ or ‘failed – did/did not receive email’. And everyone to post these so that we can establish if it was a correlation?
October 16, 2020 at 1:54 pm #589133Will start a nice challenge that I saw several sessions ago (to make this thread more interesting than just complaining or searching for clues prior to release day).
So, which was the most challenging paper you took so far and why? What about the least challenging?
Myself:
SBL most challenging, not so used to case study formats previously and I prefer exams more theory/formula based as I can refer back to the textbooks in a more straightforward way.Tax (F6) least challenging, probs as I’ve always done really well in maths and formula based exams, got my highest mark.
October 6, 2020 at 6:14 pm #587486I sat SBL, a bit odd with a charity being given to analyse, not too confident about this exam tbh 🙁 it’s my final exam. I just want to know the result asap so that I can plan ahead if needed… Good luck!!
October 5, 2020 at 1:24 am #587370Hey, I thought the same, I saw 12th October and now it’s 19th October 🙁 why did they change it? 🙁
September 8, 2020 at 10:28 pm #584247Were we supposed to classify risks by TARA ? I did that and tried to correct the mitigating activities by using TARA, there were 4 risks, impact given. No idea if this was right tho…
June 18, 2020 at 11:35 am #574166Hello
Every time I try to access the CBE platform, I get this error below.
Do you know what I need to modify in my settings to make it work? To mention I tried from two different laptops and got the same error, despite logging into myACCA.HTTP Status 500 – Unable to do Single Sign On or Federation.
type Status reportmessage Unable to do Single Sign On or Federation.

RitaJanuary 11, 2020 at 7:53 pm #557823Nice challenge, I like it!
My journey with ACCA as follows:
Most challenging papers (F and P levels): F9 FM, SBL (currently waiting for SBL result)
Least challenging papers (F and P levels): F6 Taxation, P5 APM
No resits (so far), fingers crossed for tomorrow.
December 3, 2019 at 3:14 pm #554691What country did you guys choose for the production plant and why?
And how did you map the product in BCG matrix Q1a?Thanks!
December 7, 2018 at 12:06 pm #488208What did you say in Q3 – b, recognizing the provision? and indicator of impairment?
I said do not recognize the 3m provision as there is no obligation, and decline in price is an external indicator of impairment ..December 6, 2018 at 5:00 pm #488023Same here, did all possible questions in Kaplan, past paper, specimens and it still felt like an alien paper!! And I studied all standards in the syllabus, good theoretical knowledge, practice, and have the feeling that i won’t pass 😐
November 1, 2018 at 1:36 pm #483503Thank you, Chris, this is very helpful!!
January 12, 2018 at 11:42 pm #428786Friday would be best, so that we can have the weekend to celebrate if positive, or process the negative result in our mind and plan ahead. But Monday morning isn’t the best start of a work week, and it is released also very late at night (given that we go to work on Mondays..). I find the results release time very stressful, personally.

March 7, 2017 at 3:24 pm #376290Q32- my balance sheet balanced at $197600, anyone else got the same? 🙂
Q31- adjusted for ii and iii, deducted discontinued operation (revenues, CoS, opex), and no adjustment on 1.5 loss on disposal. Overall i suggested it would be ok to make the acquisition as ratios were better than industry..December 10, 2016 at 7:55 pm #363155Premium I did divided by 15 times 8/12, time apportioned to the no of months, as it should not be the annual amount . Advertising expenditure deducted yes.
Property loss did not include interest on property loan as it should go to interest receivable, not property income, you guys did the same?
ThanksDecember 9, 2016 at 7:36 am #362545Correct, the remaining 2600 was taxable. The way i ve done it:
Alice – 18%, list price less 5000 contrib, fuel 22100 * 18%, mileage allowance not taxable benefit
Claude – private telephone exempt, home system cost less 20% * cost (probably not right)
Buma – loan ( 30000 plus 18000 )/2 * 3%, less interest paid; 18000 as repaid 12000 throughout the year
Denise – 2600 only taxable, medical costs exempt up to 500 per annumThen computed * 13.8% for each to get class 1A
Anyone else agrees on the above?
