    I am not sure if it helps but I my accounting career went like this;

Finance Assistant (very first finance job, I was studying AAT Level 2 & 3). Stayed here for 1.5 years and it involved basic accounting functions.

Accounts & Tax Assistant – second finance job in accountancy practice where I gained experience in preparing C. Tax and Personal Tax returns. I finished my Level 4 AAT and started my ACCA journey. Stayed in this job for 2 years.

Assistant Finance Manager – Third job in finance, finished my ACCA studies.

Finance Manager – Within 6 months of working as Assistant Finance Manager I got promoted to Finance Manager while having ACCA under my belt too. I have been in this role (across 2 jobs now) for around 4 years.

I would suggest similar approach, Finance Assistant role gave me core understanding on Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and basic budgeting. Accounts & Tax Assistant role in Accountancy practice was crucial to my career, it basically taught me how to prepare and review tax returns, VAT, payroll etc.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Kim

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, it is much appreciated.

I have already completed & had my PER signed off, as well as the experience and the EPSM.

I am awaiting results for my last exam, if I pass then I should qualify as a member as all other requirements have been completed and appropriately signed off.

Does this mean that Step 1 and 3 of PC is completed? So I would only need to wait 2 years and complete PCEF Part 1 and 2?

My apologies for all these questions, I have contacted ACCA helpdesk but their answers are very vague..

    Many thanks

    Norvy

Hi Kim, thank you for your quick response! The debrief videos have been issued for all exams apart from Taxation, they have all been debriefed by tutor called Steve Willis. I was preparing for APM back then and the debrief video was quite helpful as the mock exam was also new so gave quite a bit of insight into what we should be expecting.

I am preparing for AAA now and unfortunately I can’t locate any of the videos anymore, not even the ones for APM!

    Very odd!

    Thank you Kim & Neggumz

At the moment, I will be providing bookkeeping & CT600 & SA100 filling services for 1 client and that’s it. Realistically looking, I can probably take on maximum of 5 clients who are small sole traders or limited companies as I will be undertaking Management role in my new workplace.

Hence I am not sure whether AAT licensed membership justifies itself costs for the amount of work I will be carrying out.

Just scraped the pass! I was hoping for a fail as I probably did around max 60 hrs of revision (if that) and had a lot of personal problems at home too! Really happy with the outcome!

I believe it’s because Innocent is entitled to entrepreneurs relief. As she holds more than 5% of the shares, and she is an employee of the company too, where her husband has less than 5% of the shares and he has never been an employee of the company, therefore it would be more tax efficient for Innocent to sell the shares and claim entrepreneurs relief, this way she will be taxed @ 10% instead of 40%.
