Passed with 57%. Finally an affiliate. For an exam I only managed to attempt about 75-80% of the marks, I still don’t understand how I passed! I was honestly getting prepared for a resit
Apparently, link theory works LOL
Thanks to John Moffat and the OT Team. Definitely donating.
July 15, 2019 at 12:03 am #523195Its a pass. Link theory works!
July 15, 2019 at 12:02 am #523186Good luck
June 7, 2019 at 1:58 pm #519603The mental agility you need to be able to pass this exam is on another level. I can’t even explain it. Reading, recalling theory, digesting and actively working on the numbers requirements fried my brain cells. Cheers to an expected fail mark so I can try P5.
I’m done with this one.
June 7, 2019 at 8:47 am #519519Oh apologies I meant own figure rule.. thanks
May 27, 2019 at 5:51 pm #517573Additional Question to the first one: I can see that the examiner did an alternative solution using the current spot(which is what I would have done too) but I assume that if I do this in the exam, I still get full marks right?
May 5, 2019 at 3:21 pm #515007Thanks
April 15, 2019 at 1:52 pm #512527Passed on first attempt at 57! Wrote P7 the day after and for the enormous amount of writing I had to do, I was quite worried.
For those that didn’tmake it, know that SBR allows you to play around with knowledge. So don’t be stuck. Imagine yourself as an accomplished business consultant for a Fortune 500 company. How would you help them achieve their goals? What problems are they likely to face? How would you recommend strategies? SBL is all about the business environment.

April 15, 2019 at 1:06 am #512519Passed with 57 on first attempt! If you’re struggling a lot, watch as many Kashif Kamran video on YouTube on exam technique, read and digest Opentuition notes, ask and practice as many exam questions. I, in fact ditched ACCA recommended texts – too long and heavy.
Concept clarity and understanding WHY you’re doing what you’re doing is key to passing AAA.
That was all I needed to pass.
March 20, 2019 at 4:18 am #509761Thanks! Cleared.
March 19, 2019 at 9:51 am #509681Thanks. I have.
But in example 6b for instance (in the lecture), why would it be wrong to also ungear X’s equity beta as well, weight this together with Y’s asset beta to get a combined asset beta (since X is investing in a new major project with a different level of risk) then regear this using X’s capital structure to arrive at Ke?
March 8, 2019 at 12:39 pm #508544Planning on writing June.. Ya’ll better have good news 🙁
March 6, 2019 at 7:15 am #507957Forget the marks! You deserve a medal if you were able to tie the available macro-economic data to the case and make analytical insights out of it.
It really really required a lot of critical thinking! Previous exams had more info in the exhibits in my opinion.

Has anyone written about not including staff training costs and 5 years of maintenance contract cost to the initial investment of $38m in the NPV Question 4b?I did. The staff training cost in t0 alone is not enough. Knowledge and know how can go out if date. Shame I didn’t develop it well.

Lots of marks going for the strategical and ethical implications of closing stores in Noria, and moving out of Centrum altogether, but yet only had a couple of points to make. What approach did other people have on this?I found this challenging. Just mumbled a few things on what their justification is for the closure. Did they do a CVP analysis if any of the 35 stores still manage to break even? How bad would the lost revenue further dwindle their cash balances etc
March 5, 2019 at 2:58 pm #507761Exhausting!! I was writing as though my life depended on it!
I struggled to think of an appropriate model for the questions so i combined a few of them. Pestel for q1, porters diamond in 2 and pretty much practical context for the rest.
Now that I’m thinking of it, POPIT could have been appropriate for the customer database management
Fingers crossed till April anyway.

I think the matter there was that the year end was different from that of the group. It had November year end whereas group had a December year end.Yeah I mentioned that but I felt I didn’t write enough.
March 4, 2019 at 7:11 pm #507523Did anybody notice that the first case of the subsidiary in Q1 literally had little or NO information on RoMM?? Everything written about the subsidiary was just about a single line on their principal activity and nothing much of importance, I think.
The other two subsidiary actually had More details and more points to talk about!!
March 4, 2019 at 2:24 pm #507419I think I managed to answer about 90% of the paper. It wasn’t too tough. I hope I wrote enough sensible points to pass.
I expected more than just 6 marks on reporting though.
Fingers crossed till April.

February 3, 2019 at 7:37 pm #504058I understand that requests that puts the Firm in managerial decisions should always be declined however.
But here, I’d thought that the Firm is only providing an assessment of candidates and it’s still up to the clients to actually make decisions

September 8, 2018 at 4:06 am #472260It was really disappointing. For what seems like the first time ever, all that was provided on the formula sheet was TOTALLY useless for this exam.
Completely!!! No CAPM, no WACC., no gearing and regearing, no options.. Nada!! Nothing from those areas…
