Hi @emmathomson1,
Well, I never took APM since I had chosen AAA and AFM from the optional papers. Having said that from what I know AFM is a popular choice of students amongst the optional papers.
It will be wrong to say that one is easier than the other because that is not true! One subject may seem easy to some students whilst the same would seem difficult to others.
So I would say choose the one which you find more interesting. For me that would be the deciding factor because if I find it interesting, I will be able to study it better since I would enjoy it. Afterall, all ACCA papers are challenging (not trying to scare you – just stating a fact 🙂 ).
You have got exemptions for PM and FM means that you have the assumed knowledge required for APM/AFM.
Since you plan to give APM/AFM in December, I would say in the meantime explore the subjects using resources on the ACCA website and here on the OpenTuition website. Go through PM/FM resources as well.
Additionally, here is a link to my response to a similar question.

March 28, 2021 at 8:02 pm #615424The following link from the ACCA website should be of your help https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/student/exam-support-resources.html
Choose your subjects and select ‘Past exam library’. There are other useful resources too that would help you in your exam preparation.Additionally, I would strongly recommend to purchase an ACCA Approve Content Provider (Bpp or Kaplan) exam kit for question practice. FYI, there is a 20% discount off BPP books specially for Opentuition students https://opentuition.com/20-discount-bpp-books/ 🙂
All the best for your exam preparation.
Hope this helps.

Well, as per the OBU BSc results email OBU has sent:
“As a consequence of the pandemic, we are unable to hold a 2021 graduation ceremony in Oxford and we have not yet made a decision regarding the non-UK ceremonies. As soon as we are able to hold Graduation ceremonies safely, we will contact you with further details.”
Depending on where you are based, seems like we will just have to wait and see what happens in regards to this 🙂
March 28, 2021 at 7:39 pm #615416Hi @frazer123,
As far as I know, the pass rates are not released for this. Afterall, it is a degree and grades are given, unlike ACCA exams where exam scores(%) are given. In other words, this is different from ACCA exams in all aspects (marking etc).
Hope that clarifies it.
December 20, 2020 at 1:35 am #600358dm1983 wrote:Can I get through the paper just using the resources on here?
Hi,
Well, there are many students who have passed their ACCA papers using OT resources. You can also use resources like technical articles etc available on the ACCA website to increase your chances of passing. https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f8.html
But it is equally important alongside these resources, you get an ACCA Approved Content Provider exam kit because question practice is the key to passing ACCA exams! The importance of practising questions cannot be stressed upon enough.
I had used Kaplan because I personally found it more user-friendly in terms of layout etc.
dm1983 wrote:And is there a study plan available so I can organise my study?
Yup, there is. You will find one on the ACCA website. Here is a link to it:

It’s a classic and this advice is gold! Anyone and everyone who has asked me about LW exam preparation, this is what I share with them.
I implemented it and got an easy pass with 60+ scores.hananfawad wrote:How did you prepare for it, I have exam on Monday
However, if your exam is on this Monday, that is, 21st December (tomorrow) and NOT next week…then I would say, ‘sit back and relax’.
No need to panic a day before exam.
You must have prepared well so have self-confidence.
Quickly scan through the questions you have practised, if you need to.Good luck for your exam!
Hope that helps.
December 20, 2020 at 12:41 am #600355Hi @hananfawad,
Seems like a good plan to me as I can see that you are keeping an appropriate time of 6 months to prepare for each sitting.
But a word of advice – preparing for 2 ACCA papers for the same sitting is challenging (not impossible though!) so best is to make sure you give 6 months to prepare well and utilise that time smartly (and wisely) for each of the two sittings i.e. June’21 and Dec’21. The reason that I am highlighting this is, at times students tend to start procrastinating considering they have 6 months in hand and then they get caught up in their commitments like full time job etc and end up neglecting preparation for exams. So just keep that in mind.
Alternatively, each of these Applied Skills (previously Fundamental) papers can be given one sitting at a time (March, June and September) in whichever order you like. Some students find this more convenient rather than giving multiple papers in one sitting as it helps to establish better focus since they have just 1 paper to attempt.
That said, wish you all the best for your exam preparation and exams!
Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear that @ericaoc19, well that depends on your scores whether or not it was a marginal fail ( like somewhere 47 – 49) because that way it will help you better understand what should you focus on ie both concepts/understanding the syllabus AND question practise or ONLY question practise. And since you have not mentioned your scores, I can’t say much about it specifically. However, generally speaking I would say there is no need to rush but instead better take some time and reflect upon what may have gone wrong to ensure you get that pass in the next attempt. The key to passing any and ALL ACCA exams is – question practice.
All the best.
Hope this helps.
December 12, 2020 at 10:40 pm #599746Hello,
The following should be of your help https://www.accaglobal.com/hk/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us/unhappy.html
Since ACCA exams are over, all students would have got an email from ACCA asking about their exam experience and to take an exam feedback suvery. In the same email, the process and deadline to submit complaint would also be mentioned.
Hope this helps.

It is absolutely fine if you haven’t attended university and came directly into ACCA. In fact, that is something very common amongst those of us who come into pursuing ACCA. So do not worry about it.
I would say focus on your ACCA studies, study well, pass your exams and emphasise on gaining skills that would make you come up to the demands of today’s employers.
I know people who choose not to do the BSc degree.
And let me tell you an interesting fact, when you take the first 9 papers of ACCA it becomes equivalent to a degree standard. And when you take the last 4 papers ie Professional level in which case it is equivalent to a masters degree. This is mentioned here https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/qualifications/accountancy-career/ukschoolleaver/qualifications.html#:~:text=The%20ACCA%20Qualification%20is%20broadly,equivalent%20to%20a%20masters%20degree.
All the best for your ACCA journey.

Short answer – yes.
MSc and ACCA are basically two different things, to put it simply. Hence, you will have to pay the subscription fee even if you choose the MSc Route provided that you wish to continue the ACCA qualification and get the membership.
It is noteworthy, anyone who does not pay the subscription may be removed from the register and have to pay a re-registration fee, as well as any outstanding fees, to continue. https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/getting-started/dates-and-fees.html#Affiliate-subscription-fee
Hope that helps.
May 18, 2020 at 5:37 am #571164Hi @pam86,
As per the ACCA website, if you don’t pay your subscription fee you will be removed from the register of students. https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/getting-started/dates-and-fees.html#Registration-and-subscription-fees
@pam86 said:
Is there anyway to cancel the ACCA student account without paying penalties?
To my knowledge, you cannot cancel your ACCA account. Basically, there is no cancellation but instead there is removal.
And if you wish to re-register you will have to pay the outstanding fees along with re-registration fee. There is no penalty, you just have to pay the outstanding amount.
Hope this helps.
May 18, 2020 at 5:27 am #571163Hi @japime,
Well, there are resources eg past exam papers available on the ACCA website which you can use.
Here is the link to the resource finder https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/student/exam-support-resources.htmlHowever, I would recommend you to purchase an exam kit from an ACCA Approved Content Provider. They are shipping out hard copies and also have the option to purchase e-books.
As you have correctly pointed, pass rate of F5 is low but that’s nothing to be afraid of. For any ACCA exam the more questions your practise, the higher chances you have of passing. Hence, for the same reason I have recommended you to purchase an exam kit.
Also, for OT students there is a 20%off discount code which you can avail for purchasing BPP ACCA books 🙂
Hope this helps.

I know this is a very subjective question and there is no right answer, but I just need a bench-mark to plan my studies.
Yup, it’s a subjective one 😐
As per ACCA the recommended time is 16 weeks.
However, to give you an idea, extensive amount of syllabus is coming from FM (excluding Working Capital).
There are new areas that are introduced in AFM (like Restructuring – for others you can refer to the Syllabus of AFM) which are core topics and their understanding is crucial for the pass.Though you can’t be an expert in all the topics, you will need to be good enough in them in terms of understanding. Can’t leave any topic as being the weaker one because you never know the examiner may end up giving an entire 50mark question on that same topic!
All that said, AFM is a major step up from FM in terms of the demand of the paper. After all it is a Strategic Professional Level Paper.
And in order to meet these demands understanding and knowledge is not enough. Exam standard question practice (alot of it!) is necessary.
So you will have to keep a good portion of time of your study plan for question practice.
This is an extremely time pressured exam, examiner himself has mentioned this so you can imagine the importance of time management here.
I’m putting some links below that should be of your help and should give an idea of how much time you need to dedicate to this paper.
https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/p4/self-study-guides.html#I can’t really give an exact number of hours because it’s not about just quantity here, it is also about quality. You need to make sure you utilise time in the best way possible. Don’t only study hard, study smart too!
Make sure to use the resources provided by ACCA on their website.
Keep yourself updated with Financial news by reading articles, journals etc. That time of studying through textbooks is far gone. Now you need to develop skills that will help you apply your knowledge in an actual business scenario. Rote learning will not help!If you are planning to give this in March’20, let me be straight it is going to be a tough one. Strategic Level papers like AFM require time because they are really challenging.
If you have any further questions about this, feel free to post it. Would be happy to help.

Thanks @jetavi. What happens if I don’t pass audit but pass SBL for example? As @beth33 has rightly mentioned you will need to resit AA before or with another Professional paper.
You can’t move on to the next level before completing the previous one. The exam planner won’t allow you to.
On the side note, provided that you have not already started your preparation for SBL, I will not recommend you to take SBL as the first paper. It is a case study paper and doing as your last ACCA paper would help you to draw knowledge from all the other papers, aiding you in securing a good pass. Hence, it is be see t recommended to keep at the end.
Hope this clears it.
January 14, 2020 at 7:09 pm #558688Hi @sunshine,
I can understand things being frustrating…
As to what you have mentioned, it seems wise to give it a break to refresh your mind and work. After all, working is also one of the requirements of getting ACCA membership. So that will surely help you complete the 3 years of PER (provided you don’t have any prior work experience) and performance objectives.
Just bear in mind the 7 year limit to complete the 4 papers. Keep a track of how many years remains in order to complete those last 2 papers.
Also, working will also help you towards the professional papers as it’s all about how things work in a business scenario.
All the best!

Hi, I’m seriously freaking tired of Acca. I started of in 2011 for Cat. And then 2013 with my acca and with continues sitting I have been attempting the exams. I’m now left with the last two option level papers being a full time student. Now I feel like giving up and I don’t feel like continuing. No matter how much effort I put I’m not passing. I’m so demotivated and frustrated. My time, energy and money is all wasted. I’m helpless and I have no idea where my future is going to be. Should I give up becoz I’m mentally exhausted.Let’s be honest here, ACCA is not easy… In fact it is no near easy… It is really hard and challenging. A complete struggle! And we all are struggling here to at least get that 50% so that we can move on.
I know it is easier said than done but I will advise you to give it a try and don’t give up yet with just 2 papers remaining.
There are many ACCA students who are striving to pass their papers and even after multiple attempts. How many ACCA students have you come across you have passed all their papers in the first attempt? Very few!
FAILURE DOESN’T DEFINE A PERSON’S CAPABILITIES OR POTENTIAL
There must a reason for the failure… Wrong method of studying… Incorrect planning… Work/Family/Financial pressure etc… But it certainly doesn’t mean that he is dumb.
So now I will advise you to ignore everything (what your friends are saying or doing) and just focus on your goal… Which should be to become ACCA Qualified. Don’t compare your journey with anyone else’s… Everyone face issues and so everyone’s journey is unique.
Sit down with a note pad… List down all the papers who have not passed with their scores.
If you have scoresd somewhere below 40 – 45% that means you may need to work on your concepts.
If you have scored above that it means you just need to focus on practising questions.Get your concepts sorted. Watch the free videos and used the free notes of Opentuition for doing so.
Once your concepts are cleared then it should be just you and an exam kit! (from an ACCA Approved Content Provider)
Practise as many questions as you can!And mostly importantly analyse your mistakes!
-you do a set of questions(without peeking at the answers!) …
-preferably under timed conditions…
-Then check your answers…
-Analyse your mistakes (as in why did you get the answers wrong, what did they do in the solution etc)
-Make note of your mistakes in the sense which topic area you are making more mistakes (you may would want to mark yourself to know that) so that you can go back to the topic and revise it then go back to solving questions under that topic.
-Also make note of questions you may find extremely challenging and different as compared to others and look at their solutions carefully.
-Moreover, complete the question then come back go to the solution… Complete it even if you don’t know how to do it… Make a guess and then see whether you go it right or wrong…
If you got it right, why?
If you got it wrong, why?So the idea of doing all this is *Learning from your mistakes*
There must be something that you may be going wrong with… You need to just find that and fix it.
Use the free resources provided by ACCA on their website( examiner’s report, past papers, technical articles, and many more)
Finally, I personally advice people to give 1 paper per exam sitting… This helps secure a better pass as we can focus better and give the appropriate time to prepare and practice for each paper. Will advise you the same!
And if you have any queries you can certainly post it in the relevant forum.
If you wish to get more insights I have replied to a very similar question here
https://opentuition.com/topic/can-i-give-up/ do it a read when you can 🙂I, as an ACCA student myself, understand why these sort of questions are very frequently asked.
All that said, the decision is for you to make. If you wish to continue or not is for you to decide.
Hope that helps.
