Hi Lizzie,
I was considering doing P2 UK until I read this article from the ACCA website. As I find it highly unlikely I will have the need of signatory audit partner within the next 10 years its just not nescessary for me & as the article says who knows what the requirement will be once the UK is completely alligned to IFRS.
Based on the article I changed my variant for P2 in December to international.

After reading the article if you still want to do the UK stream review the P2 study guide which can be found on the ACCA site

You can find the December exam timetable in the link above.
August 20, 2012 at 2:31 pm #104437They aren’t very long or complex, I’d just do the two.
Foundations in professional is required for your certificate as its required for all foundations in accountancy qualifications.
Professional Ethics module is the required one for the professional qualification but if you complete them after you’ve studied for P1 they are easy as you’ve already studied the components. Just quickly read the module then answer the questions.
August 17, 2012 at 10:15 am #104360Incase anyone else was wondering I found my answer.
“Should you wish to practise as a registered auditor within the UK and/or Ireland (obtain the audit qualification/audit practising certificate), you must attempt the P2 UK/Irish and P7 UK/Irish papers from June 2011 onwards. This is not a retrospective ruling, so any International papers you have already passed will be unaffected by this ruling.
A schedule of differences between study guide and examinable documents for the
1. 2010 P2 International paper to 2011 P2 UK/IRL paper
2. 2010 P2 UK/IRL paper to 2011 P2 UK/IRL papercan be found within the syllabus and study guide section for this paper
All UK and Irish professional accountancy bodies are governed by the requirements of the Statutory Audit Directive (SAD). In order to comply with the requirements of SAD– and to practise as an auditor – certain elements of UK/Irish legislation and regulation should be examined.
The revised Papers P2 (UK/IRL) and P7 (UK/IRL) fully meet regulatory and business environment requirements for those wishing to obtain the UK/Irish audit qualification and hence practise as a registered auditor in the UK/Ireland.”
And it was hiding here
August 17, 2012 at 8:58 am #104407Hi Alham,
You can sit any paper as many times as you like including all F & P level papers until you pass it.
Although you can only sit 4 individual papers per exam sitting and you must complete your exams within 10 years of registration.

August 17, 2012 at 7:51 am #104388As above depends how much time you can devote.
Last sitting I sat 3 F8, F9 and P1. Passed all 3 but I can’t see myself doing 4. I felt spread too thin and only scraped a pass on F9. If you could dedicate weekends to watch all OT lectures in 1 go then move on to a revision phase well in advance of the exams then you might be able to do it with working too.
I like the approach of concentrating on 2 papers and take a third as a bonus paper. That way if you feel you need to work more on the main two you do and just neglect the third. If you don’t pass the third then so be it but you’ve given your self a flavour of it for the next sitting.
It’s all down to how much time you think you can put towards study.
August 16, 2012 at 5:00 pm #87112They no longer publish them in a newspaper.
Which sucks.
August 16, 2012 at 4:56 pm #104238Obviously the answer is OT
I’ve just been enrolled in BPP’s online course for P6 taught and P2 & P6 revision.
I’ve gone with BPP purely because I’m doing P2 in the classroom with them (kaplan didn’t do the course I wanted on a weekend). I’ve previously used Kaplans study text which I’ve never found complaint with (bar the odd printing error).
So far BPP have been helpful sorting out the booking with my employer, the information I’ve been given is that each session is capped at 50 people and their system is gives you the chance to ask questions. I don’t know how well that’s going to work 50 people asking questions to 1 lecturer so will have to wait and see.
August 14, 2012 at 12:15 pm #59731For people with questions try logging in to your ACCA, expand the ethics and professionalism tab in the menu on the left and click request professional ethics module.
This will take you into the professional ethics module and on the first screen their is a user F&Q which will help you.
August 14, 2012 at 11:31 am #75491You can do that panismith assuming you’ve completed P2 but it might be better to retake P1 & P3 while the information is fresh in your mind. That way you can build on the knowlodge you developed in your first round of study.
August 10, 2012 at 9:28 am #103998I think if you enter yourself for F9 you will be able to sit any of P1 – P3.
I think the message you originally received was probably informing you that the professional ethics module was unlocked rather than P1 being unlocked.
August 10, 2012 at 9:26 am #104060That’s really good,
Is there anything similar availible for the P levels?
I was considering sitting P2 and P6 together as I heard the can compliment each other, I know I’d have to enter myself for P3 which is why it would be good to know is it worth paying the extra exam fee.
August 8, 2012 at 7:30 am #10305950%, really struggled on the 2nd half of this paper, I’d done a lot of work but guess my understanding isn’t there.
It is a huge syllabus and I’m just happy I’ve finished with it. Thanks OT.
August 8, 2012 at 7:29 am #10297168% Thanks OT
June 27, 2012 at 3:40 pm #101636They are valid.
The BPP text will be UK & Int as the UK moves toward IFRS, I can’t remember off the top of my head but I think its due to come in 2015. I’m not sure on BPP but since 2010 kaplan has done books focusing on INT with UK GAAP segments at the end of chapters highlighting the differences. This made me do INT at F8 as it was easyier to just learn Int.
However I wanted to gain audit with a practasing certificate which would require me to the P2 and P7 UK variants so I may learn Int. then learn the differences.
June 22, 2012 at 2:35 pm #101627Personally I can’t understand the benefit of doing either after ACCA. If you want ICAEW then get your 5 years experiance and get sponsored for ICAEW under the pathways scheme.
I don’t see any real benefit in doing CIMA after ACCA, if you want to carry on learning choose something else. There’s a good post here by natashanazeryousuf
June 22, 2012 at 7:16 am #101584Oh right thats good then.
I was under the impression I’d have to sit the mandatory P papers before I could do the options. I’ve only ever entered for P1 previously at P level so I wasn’t aware I could do that.
I get to save myself an exam fee ^-^
June 21, 2012 at 5:01 pm #101581Yes but you’d still have to go back and sit F7 & F9 at some point but it can be useful (and more expensive)
Next sitting I will enter for P2, P3 & P7 then not attend P3. This will let me sit 2 papers which compliment each other and are a week apart in sitting.
June 19, 2012 at 4:16 pm #101445No it wouldn’t be possible, you will have to wait until you atain you exemption.
June 19, 2012 at 4:01 pm #100608Personally I’d rather see a lower pass rate, they are supposed to be hard to protect the profession. If the papers were easy everyone would be an accountant and then there’d be no point doing the papers yourself.
If anything the pass mark should be raised to 60%.
June 19, 2012 at 8:01 am #101290Hi Ngocsura,
For per all the essential requirements must be completed (numbers 1-9) and 4 of the options (numbers 10-20).
As number 17 is an option you have no experiance in I suggest leaving that and only compeleting 4 options you do have experiance in. Given your experiance in management account options numbered 10 – 14 will most likely be a good fit for you.
June 18, 2012 at 2:11 pm #101287I assume your doing some combination of F5-F9?
I’d suggest not doing the 4 exams in 1 sitting. I’ve done 3 exams twice and that’s been hard enough and I found myself spread too thinly.
I’d suggest just sit 2 in December and do F6/F8 or F7/F9. I think given the size of the syllabus in F6 & F9 it would be wise not to pair them up.Personally I won’t be signing the petition but I wish you luck if you decide to sit the 4.
June 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm #101285The notes for December will be the same as the notes for June, there are no syllabus changes between the June & December sittings so you should be good to start studying now;)
June 18, 2012 at 11:54 am #101094There were no changes for F1, F2 or F3 in 2012 so feel free to use the 2011 versions. Even if they make any changes in 2013 you could still use 2011 as long as you studied the changes from another source.
