Sir i have been following your lectures but i am bit confused how much it helps in cbe now? I learned my basics of Financial Management F9 from you and i dont think there can be a better tutor thn you for it. My question is in this exam how we can make use of the lectures when all the calculation part is on excel and not manual? For example your lectures on WACC and IRR do we really need to learn the manual way as exams area all computerised now?

April 20, 2022 at 4:15 pm #654114It happens to many of us. This is very usual in Professional Exams. You just need to revise your strategy. Yes Please dont waste your money on admin review. Instead just gather yourself for the next attempt. Seems like you have all the knowledge of the standards but you have to do the application which matters the most in this exam. You always have to give a suggested solution within the scenario. The technical artiecles are not uselss many times exams come from it but please remember its not only the knowldge from technical articles but its the applaication. Please gather yourself and dont be demotivated it has happened to me many times and i can understand what you are going thorugh but not giving up is the key and learning from the mistakes is most important. Start doing all the applications to the exam questions only and you will clear it in this attempt for sure. Just foucs on exam questions and application. Remember the three golden steps. 1. State the rule.. 2. Applicaiton..3, Conclusion
April 18, 2022 at 2:43 am #653651Finally passed this exam. Its one of a monster exam and you really need to understand the key techniques to clear it. Just remember these words. Don’t spend too much time on a question where you are stuck. Move forward and you will be able to clear it.

November 1, 2016 at 10:06 am #346948I worked throught it but i dont understand share premium why did we value it at 5.50 and also at nominal at 1?
The deffered cash payment is easy. What about the nci in the end why are we valuing it?
And finaly i dont know there seems to be arithmetical error 6000 + 33000 + 14400+2500 is 55900
Why have u given the value of Greca 55500 ?

September 12, 2016 at 7:14 pm #340144The paper wasnt bad but it was very unusual and i am saying this because there was no wacc calculation no forward rate hedge and money market calculation and almost nothing on gearing this is very unusual. however overall paper wasnt bad as far as diifculty is concerened some parts were very straight forward.Mcqs were tricky but the thing is candidates usully prepare good on wacc as its very likely to be there. its been there in every exam so ppl get 10 to 12 marks solid on that but this time it was different. Please let me know if anyone else of you feel same.
September 8, 2016 at 5:51 am #338892Sir there is a lot of rough mcq work that we have to do in this exam.
Just want advice from you. How do we answer questions if for example i attempt a section c question first thn my second question is from section b which is obviusly with lot of mcq rough work? Just writing it above a page will be eoniguh to refrence? and it wont make the marker confused?
And what do u suggest which section we should attempt first? i personaly think its better to attempt section C first as we do get step marks over there and thn attempt section b and a of course depending upon the diffciulty of questions.

Actly i was getting bit confused on the words of the question ‘ Effects of european investment’ I thought we would take into account of how the money is being raised for the investment.
But we are always concerned with the return we get from the investment.
As per my understanding there are 3 stages for share price.
1. First the current share price
2. Terp. The share price we get after raising finance and not concerned with the returns from investment.
3. the revised share price we get after investing and getting returns from it.
We always compare it with the returns we get from it and share price after raising finance. Am i right?
The only bit confusing part here is that we are raising finance only due to this ‘European Investment’ Why that is not taken into account when comparing?
August 4, 2016 at 6:19 am #331300Sir the first three lines says:
Miller and Modigliani showed that, in a perfect capital market, the value of a company depended on its investment decision
alone, and not on its dividend or financing decisions. In such a market, a change in dividend policy by DD Co would not
affect its share price or its market capitalisation.August 3, 2016 at 7:30 pm #331211I am sorry i mean Question 32 part b. The last question of the exam.
August 2, 2016 at 6:27 pm #330914Sir in Speciemen Paper Question 5b they asked about wheather the dividend policy will affect the share price.
In Solution Examiner has briefly written about dividend irrelevancy theroy and its assumptions. Some of it i dont really understand 🙁
How can they pay high level of dividends by issuing new equity? and assume it wont effect the share price? what kind of theory and assumption is that?
August 1, 2016 at 7:31 pm #330735Thank You Sir
I think its good explanation but i failed to find the assumptions that M&M made.
I am having bit problem in understanding that company could pay any level of dividend and if it had insufficent finance that could be make up by issuing new equity, how will that not effect the share price of a company? I understand that M&M theory is based on assumption of perfect capital markets. But still in a perfect capital market if they pay high level of dividends by issuing new equity. Will that not effect the share price?
By new equity do we consider right issues? if we do than TERP does change share price?
July 27, 2016 at 9:08 pm #329908Sir Any Intelligent guesses on written questions ? 🙂
July 26, 2016 at 9:06 pm #329433Thank You for your answer Sir.
About the long form questions is it very likely to be from Investment appraisal and cost of capital? I know you cant answer this question if examiner hasnt said anything about it. But even in the speicemen paper the long from questions were on inv appraisal and cost of capital.
I think this is another aspect which is making this new format tough 😛 As in last format we knew 2 questions will come from inv appraisal, cost of capital or working capital.
Now they can probly be from any topic right?
