    Hello everyone

    For Question 3:

    CAPM = 12%

    APV = positive

    loan = 70 * 8% * 30% * PVIFA 8% 4years

    subsidized loan – tax relief = 80 * 3.1% * 30% * PVIFA 8% 4years

    subsidized loan – interest saving = 80 * (8% – 3.1%) * 70% * PVIFA 8% 4years

    issue cost = 4% * 80

    Question 2 was a disaster was me..

    * Gone blank seeing that the company trades in $ but the rates & contract provided was in CHF

    * tried only for forward mrk hedge by converting the rates to per $

    *tried to assume that the swiss co has to pay the Netourne co CHF 12.3 in 6 months in $

    * lost the 25 marks

    question 1 was okay
    * MBO & MBI – managed

    * restructuring n reorganization – tried

    * value of equity – before acquisition

    – Opao co = $ 2.5 * 2m shares
    – Tai = tried to work with the profit adjusting the depn n additional investment

    * value of equity – after acquisition – combined co
    – FCF + 2nd planning horizon

    * % gain in value – tried a bit but couldn’t proceed

    * theory – shareholders reaction -managed to do

    * IPO & reversal takeover – totally blank on that

    Overall it was a fair paper. Just that didn’t expect this kind of question for hedging as it came in Sept 2018 exam

    Now hope for the best.. Fingers cross

    Honestly, I felt cheated in this exams. These types of questions were never given before (based the past papers I’ve worked). I had prepared so such in the past month, ensuring I adapt the correct approach for the paper/questions. None came to use with this exam.

    Already sat for this paper like 5 times.

    I guarantee that I have failed this paper.

    Either I would drop now or Else see you in Dec AFM..

    just a guess based on the marks allocation of similar question in the past, may lose 6~8 marks at maximum if not adding 40 basis points, as such may lead to incorrect calculation of “impact of interest rate increase and decrease with future” (about 3 marks), “impact of interest rate increase/decrease with option” (about 3 marks) and “discussion & recommendation” (about 3-4 marks in total)

    Ok thank you. Damn that’s a lot of marks missed due to silly mistakes.

    BTW 49 contracts is correct i guess coz most of us got this.

    With today’s experience for P4, I would suggest you to go through all technical articles. In addition to that practice past papers & work on time management.

    Hope it helps.

    yes, 40 basis point need be added on top of base rate to derive the actual borrowing rate for the company when calculating the NCF

    hello guys,
    do you have an idea how much marks we gonna lose if the 40 basis points is not adjusted to the interest rate. And the interest cost (calculated using 5% & 3.4%) is used.

    You may have some serious editing to do (unless you have included the ref list which needs to be loaded as a separate file). Markers stop marking at 7,500 words (say 7,570 max) after that if your conclusion falls outside that it will fail as you must produce a conclusion within the word limit.

    Trim out all the unnecessary detail in Parts 1 &2. Usually there is a lot of stuff in that is not needed (and I bet the markers don’t bother reading anyway). Part 3 is the important bit so only take out bits that repeat information (like lots of figures in the text that are already obvious from the graphs)

    thank you for the advice.

    I have tried reducing the word but counting the cover page, table of content, Part 1,2+3, the total now amounts to 7610 words.

    Part 1 with cover page+table of content=1137
    Part 2=1956
    Part 3=4517

    Is it ok?

    My RAP project file has amounted to 7846 words. Is that ok or should I reduce it further.

    Hello Roy,

    I am planning to sit for P7 (1st sitting) & P4 (2nd sitting; failed with 43 marks in Jun 17 exam) in Sept 17.

    I haven’t yet started the revision for these papers. Grateful if you could advice me on how it would be best to start the revision.

    P.s – Presently I’m not working

    Thank you. Looking forward for your reply

    Thanks for the reply Sir.

    Actually my tutor provided me with all the past exam papers (2006 to most recent) and we worked out the questions during lectures. For exams – I practiced all the questions we worked in class.

    Planning to do the same.. along with your guidelines this time

    Please advise. Thank you

    Hello Mr John,

    I have a similar question here.

    I failed P4 in June 17 sitting with 43 marks. Is it advisable for me to resit for P4 in Sept 17 along with P7 (1st sitting)??

    Provided you indicated your working beside each adjustment it is fine. You might be penalized a mark or 2 for the totals but you won’t lose much.

    yeah i did mentioned the workings.

    I’m guessing you mean like PPE(100+50) and then not adding up? If so that’s what I did as BPP lecturers alway say don’t waste time adding up and examiner isn’t there to test if you can add up.

    for PPE i meant:
    Group PPE
    P+B+T——– ****
    land ———– ***
    plant —- — — **
    total ———- ………

    i have not this total here, but for each item in SoFP, i mentioned the working number, like say for PPE item in sofp i mentioned (w1)

    hello guys

    i would like to know while preparing the working for conslidation, like group PPE, RE, OCE, & NCI, if we put the adjustment to be made in each working and don’t compute total and put in the sofp, will the workings be marked. or will we be penalised for the total not included in SOFP
