Thank you.
June 19, 2015 at 10:27 pm #258119F8 – if you like written papers. I found I had to read the book quite thoroughly but I did not have to spend as long practising questions as I did for F7 and F9. I found F9 easier than F7 and found that I had to spend a bit less time studying F9 than F7. F7 was the most interesting for me though.
Good luck whichever you choose.
February 24, 2015 at 11:10 pm #230067I have completed all of the F papers but didn’t get the ‘Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business’ until I had completed the Professional Ethics Module on My ACCA. It came through within 72 hours of completing the module.
Hope this helps.
February 8, 2015 at 5:06 pm #226905Thanks Ali 🙂
I will get on with my ethic modules and start P1 I guess.
February 8, 2015 at 2:11 pm #226815I have just looked on the ACCA website and it seems if I complete the professional ethics module I will have the ‘Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business’. Most job adverts say I need to be part qualified but I can’t find anything on the ACCA websute that refers to ‘part qualified’, is this term no longer being used maybe?
What’s involved?
You will need to register for the ACCA Qualification. When you have completed the Fundamentals level exams (F1-F9) and also the Professional Ethics module, you will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business. You can progress to the Professional level to continue your ACCA Qualification.I have almost completed the FIP (foundations in professionalism), can anyone tell me how long it took them to complete the professional ethics module in My ACCA?
Many thanks
February 8, 2015 at 12:21 am #225970I am really happy, I passed with 66%. I really was not sure what to expect with the introduction on the multiple-choice questions. Time to start the scary ‘P’ papers now.
I hope everybody else got the results they wanted.February 7, 2015 at 4:21 pm #225834Hi Ali
I was confused as to what versions of papers to sit too. A few different people advised me in the end and they all said the same so I went with their advise. I live and work in the UK too.F4 – Law (ENG)
F6 – Tax (UK)
F7 (INT) & F8 (INT)
F5 & F9 – no version selection required.I don’t receive funding from my employer so have tried a few different methods of preparing from the exam.
For some modules I have used BPP and Kaplan distance or online learning packages.
For other papers I have just bought the study text and revision kit and used the resources on the OT website. This is obviously the cheaper option. I have used BPP and Kaplan materials, both are good and both have the annoying errors in them. The pocket notes are useful, I found the F9 pocket notes particularly useful.I would definitely recommend the revision kits. The study texts are great but it is the practice questions in the revision kits that will help prepare you for the exam. You must also do lots of past paper exams.
I hope this helps
February 3, 2015 at 7:41 pm #225080I have just sat F9 and the professional ethics link is not visible in My ACCA for me at the moment either. I can see the FIP though.
January 30, 2015 at 10:54 pm #224449Hi Kris
I have just attempted paper F9 in Dec 2014, my last F paper. I am quite sure I have failed.
I never bothered to get my ACCA CAT completed so I am writing up my FPER (foundation PER) and completing my FIP (Foundations in professionalism) while I am waiting for my results. It would be nice to officially complete my CAT qualification.
Anyway, as I was completing the FIP today I noticed that the link to professional ethics was not there, it was there recently. I can’t imagine it means anything as I have not started the professional ethics yet. I think it is not connected to us passing F9 or not.
I should start my professional ethics and PER soon. Maybe after I complete the technician lever FIP and FPER I will carry on to do the ACCA requirements. Fingers crossed my motivation stays with me.
Good luck with F9 anyway.January 28, 2015 at 7:36 am #224055Thanks to you both. I will think about your comments and wait for my results and make my final decision then.
Many thanks again.January 27, 2015 at 11:01 pm #224019Thanks for the quick response. I did F7 in June 2014 and was thinking about doing P2 but it sounds like there are a lot of students finding this paper very difficult. I guess I will have to tackle it at some point though.
Thanks again.January 24, 2015 at 7:57 am #223602Thank you all for the advice, a nice mix of suggestions to think about and look into.
Many thanks again.January 23, 2015 at 7:13 am #223496OK thanks, I will try you tube and see if that helps.
January 20, 2015 at 10:29 pm #223130Thank you for the advice Unstopabl3.
April 7, 2014 at 8:28 pm #164671Thank you so much for your help, I would like to ask more on this one though.
On the “assets held at cos were impaired by $25,000”, would there have been an charge to the I&E for $25,000 then to reduce the asset value? Maybe that is why this does not impact on the statement of changes in equity.
The final part I was struggling with was:
A previously revalued asset was sold for $60,000
Details of the revaluation are as follows
Book Value at revaluation $30000
Revaluation $50000
Total $80000
Depreciation (80,000/10*3) = $24000
Total $56000
Gains has been following paragraph 41 of IAS 16 which allows a reserve transfer of the realised revaluation surplus (the difference between depreciation based on revalued amount and depreciation based on cost) as the asset is used to retained earnings.
Revaluations during the year relate to land.Gains is the company name.
I am struggling to prepare the statement of changes in equity for gains for this part.
The answer is -35000 to revaluation surplus, + 35000 to retained earnings.
It takes the $50,000, less (80000/10-30000/10)*3= $15,000 = $35000.I can kind of follow the number crunching but I am not clear what is happening and can’t see why this appears as it does in the statement of change in equity.
If you maybe explain what is going on here in a different way I may be able it follow it?
I am aware I need to go back and get my head round what the statement of changes in equity is showing and maybe this question would have made more sense.
Thank you so much.
August 8, 2012 at 4:38 am #102595Passed with 64%, much higher than I expected. Very happy.
August 8, 2012 at 4:36 am #102666Passed with 55%, I thought I was going to get between 45% and 55% so very happy.
Thanks OT!
June 11, 2012 at 4:34 pm #99469Very frustrated with the amount of syllabus areas not covered. There were lots of topics I hoped would come up that didn’t. I thought eight marks for TQM was a large proportion of the exam for a small syllabus area.
I could not attempt seasonality question – but this was the one topic i knew i had not done much work on and I really didn’t want it to come up. And of course it did come up.
I found Q1 toooo hard, I left it till last and was rushing so my own fault. Don’t think I will score more than 1or 2 marks on this one.
Question 5 was about my best.
First attempt but will be re-sitting.
Hopefully next time some of the topics I like come up.
Boo!June 5, 2012 at 1:17 pm #99142thanks to you both.
June 4, 2012 at 1:10 pm #99139John please note, the above should say “Why does the calculation not use these units to calculate the variable OVERHEAD cost”
February 28, 2011 at 9:27 pm #78961Hi Firoz
I am only on the F papers so can’t advise you.
When I get there I will be doing either P4, P5 or P6, definitely not P7. I really do not like the Audit & Assurance paper. I just passed F8 Audit with only 51%.
Good luck with which ever you decide to go for.
GeeFebruary 26, 2011 at 10:46 am #70448Thanks for getting back to me. I think I will go with the English option.
February 21, 2011 at 8:26 pm #70445Hi
I have just passed F6 & F8 (very happy) and I am thinkng of sitting F4 and F5.I have never used any resources from the Open Tuition website before and would be grateful if you can advise me what is available (notes, lecture etc.).
I am also confused as to which F4 paper to take. I have seen all of the following:
F4 English
F4 Global
F4 UK
F4 International.I work and live in England.
I can’t get onto the ACCA website to seek clarification on this.
Thanks
GinaFebruary 21, 2011 at 6:27 am #77668Yipee – passed! Only 9 papers to go!!!!
