First time pass- AFFILIATE!!
January 10, 2020 at 6:25 pm #557693Don’t know of any good horror films, however you could always watch ‘The Accountant’ 😉
January 10, 2020 at 12:06 pm #557623Last year January 1st 2019 I had 3 papers remaining. I hadn’t sat an ACCA exam for 2 years out of not being motivated enough to study and laziness, despite never failing an exam and passing everything first time by self studying around 2 months per paper and working full time in London.
My new years resolution was to pass at least one exam for that year. Well, I did SBR in March, 60 marks, then I attempted AAA in June, passed with 70. I decided to reward myself with a break and skip the September sitting as I wanted to enjoy the summer and then proceeded to pencil in AFM for December.
Here I am, it’s now 10th January 2020 and I’m waiting patiently for my AFM result on Sunday. If I pass I’d say it was a very successful year! Q3 was a nightmare so just hoping I smashed Q1 and Q2. Good luck all.

David I can access the portal link but it says error. You do not have permission to access this page. What does that mean?Are you a finalist? Sorry bro can’t help you as I’m not sure – all I know is people who can see affiliate in the source code can also access the link

I can access the link on page 3, but I can’t log in e-business, is shows
“Error Invalid User ID. Click here to try again.”Actually what is an e-business?? I just google ACCA E business and cannot login…And cannot see “Affiliate” either…
I can’t believe I failed I really prepared a lot 🙁
Sad but true, this theory is…true??
Have you ever logged on before? Just because you can’t log in doesn’t mean you failed the exam. Being able to access the link is a very good sign you passed.

I’m reluctant to believe it, but it’s hard not to.Everyone I’ve spoken to from last session said it was accurate for them. For the last session I couldn’t login to the page or see affiliate on the ebusiness site and failed, where the other person I work with who was also a finalist could and she passed.
It does make sense the reasons behind the theory. If you have passed all exams then your status changes from student to affiliate which is why you can login to that page and why it changes the code of the other site.
But like you say, we will just have to wait for the actual results. It would be good if everyone could come back after the results and confirm whether it was accurate or not for future reference.
This thread will be closed once results come out, but I’ll confirm if it works in the AFM results thread.

Why would some get next ACCA exam
and some get a specific examDon’t know, probably depends if people signed up for something relating that specific paper. I wouldn’t look into it though
January 9, 2020 at 3:31 pm #557441The Learn signal email theory has been debunked many times before – it doesn’t mean anything. I got the same email mentioning my specific AFM exam, but I also can see affiliate in the source code and can access the link.

I have an urgent question. Please answer.
I don’t see affiliate in the source page for e business. BUT for customer preference page, if you right click and press inspect, it shows<Div I’d= “affiliatelist.question’
Anyone see this? What does this mean?
Does anyone know what this mean?
I haven’t heard of the customer preference page theory. Simply, If you can’t access the link on page 3 or see Affiliate in the source code of the welcome page, it’s not a good sign sorry

I wouldn’t say discussing how our access rights have suddenly changed now results have been uploaded could be classified as “hacking”.It’s literally 2 mouse clicks you have to do once you’re on ebusiness. If that was hacking then I’d be worried for ACCA.

By all means discuss the upcoming results, but do NOT discuss these ‘theories’ as to how supposedly to find out your result in advance.The ACCA are fully aware of what people try and do (they read our forums) and have made it clear that they can identify those trying to ‘hack’ into their system and will take action against anyone who does try.
Any more posts about these ‘theories’ will be deleted, and if necessary the entire thread will be stopped.
Sorry john, I understand, just excited!
January 9, 2020 at 12:41 pm #557358No one can change the password on ebusiness as far as I can tell. So we’ve confirmed that not everyone can see affiliate in the source code. I think the theory is still 100% true.

I am a finalist who can login to the link and can see affiliate in the source code.Have you checked yet?
Me too. I think Awogbod is the only one here who sees an error and doesn’t see ‘Affiliate’ in the source code unfortunately. A few members’ friends who are finalists also can’t access the link on page 3.

It’s been very accurate in past sittings that those who have that validation function on their ebusiness page source have passed and those who do not have failed. I did not have it last sitting and failed.If it still works than a lot of finalists here have passed, Naz have you checked?

Hi I am a finalist also. and i am getting errors. i cannot change my password and the link someone attached when i try it i get the message ‘you do not have permission to perform this operation’. i sat two papers and i am a first time finalist.Can you see the word ‘affiliate’ when you check the page source?

Are you in ebusiness i can see address but cant see any communication preferences> Addresses
> If this is not correct please click here.
> Set communication preferences
> Scroll down and check (log in if needed)January 9, 2020 at 9:20 am #557262I think ACCA have taken steps to fix this issue now (remember that email they sent out reminding people not to do this?). Not getting my hopes up until someone says they can’t see ‘Affiliate’ in the source code…as bad as that sounds!
January 9, 2020 at 9:06 am #557249function validatecheckbox() {
if( document.getElementById(“p_affiliate_list”).checked)
{return(true);}
else
{window.alert(“Please tick the checkbox.”);}
return(false);
I can see it too. Anyone else not see it? When you go to Addresses and set communication preferences, the ‘Include in list of Passed Finalists’ checkbox still says no. What about everyone else?
January 8, 2020 at 3:15 pm #557177The learn signal email also includes:
During the webinar, we’ll help you make your next decisions including:

Options if you haven’t passed
How many subjects should you do in one sitting?
Key tips for passing you next ACCA exam“Options if you haven’t passed”… nothing to worry about.

I am also finalist and recieving mails from learn signal.what does it imply..???Nothing. Why would it imply anything? I’m sure ACCA aren’t leaking exam results early to Learn signal
January 8, 2020 at 10:14 am #557139First time finalist here waiting for my AFM result. Not really sure what to expect as Q3 was a big downer for me. I’ve been reading about this ebusiness theories on this forum for a few years so it feels surreal to have reached this stage and be a part of this ‘impatient conspirators group’ trying to work out if we’ve made it or not.
Naz, you’re an inspiration for never giving up! I’m sure you’ll pass this time.
December 6, 2019 at 3:40 pm #555318Q2 had a small bit where it was asked why the NPV could be underestimated. Something to do with an option to expand and option to delay. Waffled on a bit there but wrote one or two sensible points such as the co should wait 6 months for new info regarding the election is known. However management dismissed these options as the cashflows were very unknown.
After doing the multi lateral question and parts of the hedging, I had a smile on my face. Said smile turned into a faint one after finishing Q2, and after Q3, the smile was no more!

Hard. Question 3 was a disaster for me. Will be lucky to get 8 out of 25Same feelings here. It felt like there were such little marks available for the work we had to do? 2 marks for the cashflow and 4 marks to redo the forecast??
Q3 was a big disaster. For the $45m loan did anyone divide 45 by the present value of the 7% annuity to get amounts payable per year? I also added on 7% interest on the loan, took off the yearly int payment and the figure was the opening figure for year two. Did anyone do this and how many marks would this give? This is the only bit about Q3 I feel good about.Q1 was good except for the profit/cost centre and gamma/delta discussion. I have to be honest I didn’t study these areas at all. Money market hedge you had to work backwards to see how much USD it would cost. Futures were better for me. Multilateral netting also came up and so did currency options and futures. Q3 was a small npv question, with VAR and sensitivity analysis…
Can’t believe the exam skipped so many core areas like FCF, WACC, projects betas etc.
