I was just auditing the lectures and notes to decide for a taster. Apparently, you guys are missing a lot of details. For instance, there is no mention of subsequent costs and disposal/derecognition in IAS 16 lecture and notes. There’s no mention of a major overhaul or inspection that can be capitalized under IAS 16. I mean I feel like I wasted time and I’ll have to study all over again. Even the ACCA technical articles are more detailed than the notes which miss some important points plus the lectures. I am surprised that even the lectures are very “unfulfilling” as in they fail to mention important points.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear your thoughts above, but I can assure you that the information contained within the notes and lectures is more than sufficient to score you a very good pass.

Yes, there are minor details that have not been covered but that has been done purposefully so that you focus on the key points that matter with regards to passing the exam and having a solid knowledge of the basics/fundamentals. How often have major overhauls/inspections appeared in recent exams? Not very often, if at all. As for subsequent costs and disposal/derecognition, then that has been covered in FA and is therefore assumed knowledge. It is also covered within some of the other examples within the chapter.

Technical articles, by their very nature are meant to cover the details as that is their purpose. The notes are not technical articles and are designed for an entirely different purpose.

I very much doubt that you’ve wasted your time and I encourage you to carry on using the notes and the videos, as you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the final result. Have a look at the comments made on the various forums and this will back up what I’m saying.

    Good luck
