    Hello Trephena,

Do I just need to include the income statement and BS with notes, cashflow statements ,changes in equity as well ?Or is it just the BS + I/S?

I am in the process of submitting. I thought we were allowed to upload multiple appendices but it looks like you can only upload 1 file? My file is 27MB?

How can you upload multiple files?

Have you tried loading one at a time? Possibly a new box opens after you have loaded each appendix ready for any additional one?

Any files over the individual file size limit will be rejected by the system

No there was no new box even after uploading the first file.

I have had to copy and paste everything in one excel file.

It was painful but it’s done now.

I have submitted. So relieved. OMG!!!

I think the only thing I forgot was the letter from the company? I have got it but just forgot to add it.

Hi, I am doing research on Topic 8. I have used several business and accounting models for my project e.g. PESTLE, Porter’s Five Forces and The Balanced Scorecard. I have attached a comprehensive list of Porter’s Five Forces e.g. different factors under each forces and also have developed a Balanced Scorecard model specific for my research context with a list of different performance measure under the four perspective. These lists in a tabular format I have attached in appendix. Is this OK to do so. Any advise will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

@rizhawk – Please use this forum for Appendix questions and PLEASE use the search facility before opening yet another new topic!

As you will note from previous answers the appendices are for ancillary information. As your models form an important part of your report they need to go in the main body of it and where the word count rules will apply to it.

Hello. I just want to ask a simple question. As we have to upload three years financial statements of our primary company, is it necessary to upload three years F/S for our competitor also or should i just upload the latest one year competitors F/S?

Another question is that what should we upload e.g. only Balance sheet and Profit and loss account or Is it necessary to upload statement of cash flows also?

    If I want to analyse three years then how many year’s figures should I take? e.g. 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011 or just 2014, 2013 and 2012?

Whether we should use comparative figures (restated) or should i take the figures from individual annual reports?

You should attempt a 3 year analysis of your main company nd 3 years comparisons. If you only do 1 year of comparisons you cannot get more than a C grade.

Please ensure you start your work looking at the earliest year first and move fowards to the latest – this may seem obvious but apparently some students attempt to work backwards which makes it impossible to outline trends effectively! Just B. Sheet & P&L are needed for all companies for all 3 years.

You may need to use the restated figures to make valid comparisons.

    Hi @trephena,
I want to add a forecast table as scenario analysis for topic 15. It contains 3 scenarios for the next 3 years. So could I create a new appendix for explanation of assumptions and predicts used for this analysis, as they will occupy a quite large amount of words and I currently have to reduce the words count 🙁
    Thank you.

The appendix should only be for detail so in theory if these are detailed models then it would be fine. However it can be a problem if you are expecting the marker to repeatedly keep switching back and forth from your Report to the Appendices. The practicality is that as the marking is done online they would have to break off from the report and go into another window. Whereas they will be prepared to do this a few times as it is obviously necessary, if they are having to do this constantly it will start to interfere with the flow of reading and assimilation of your work and ideas.

If you can arrange it so that they can read the report and just refer to the appendices OCCASIONALLY it will fine. However if they need to stop and go into the appendices every other paragraph they will consider it an abuse of word count and fail on communication.

Essentially there are 2 assessment criteria you need to consider: Presentation of the data and Communication as the appendices as I said at the beginning should only be for ancillary material. If in effect it is a subdivision of the main report you will be penalised.

    Dear, @trephena

Can you guide me if my appendices are right?

Appendix 1 (Balance Sheet) I included both of main company and comparator.

Appendix 2 (Income Statement) Both as above

Appendix 3 ( Cash flow) Both companies

    Appendix 4 ( Ratios)

    Appendix 5 (Market data)

    Appendix 6 (Charts)

So do you think I am with in line of rules?

    Regards

Yes in principle – but are these all separate files? You can put 1,2 3,4 & 6 all in one workbook if they are all in Excel and just have different names tabs. It is better to combine files rather than load lots of separate ones as the more files you have the greater the chances of errors when loading (duplication and omission) so put as many related files as possible into one file and you will find it much easier to keep track of everything. (It should also help the marker as I expect they don’t want to have to download 6 files when just one or two will do as it makes it more time consuming for them to get on with the job in hand and less straightforward)

Hi – can someone help me please? I have just completed my report and need to include the relevant financial statements in my appendix. However, as all the reports are in PDF I don’t know how to extract these into a suitable format in word? Any suggestions or alternatives would be appreciated.

    Thanks

@se2012 you need to create extracts of financial statements (profit and loss and balance sheet) in MS Excel with relevant formulas.. this extract should have 3 years FS of both companies. Also you need to show ratios and chats in MS Excel, through Excel file, your examiner will judge your IT skills

    Hi,

While uploading Appendices to OBU, it asks for “Appendix Reference:” to be filled, while uploading the file.

Should this be “Appendix 1” or just “1”

    Thanks!

I am currently working on Topic 8,
I have RAP project file, SLS, References, Presentation and Spreadsheet as appendix.
The spreadsheet includes manual extracts of Financial statements of listed companies, ratios and graphs being named as Appendix I, II and so on.
My question is this: I am seeing on the submission upload site that, it has ‘Spreadsheet’ and ‘Appendix’ upload column. My spreadsheet is my appendix.
So could I leave the ‘Appendix’ submission column blank?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, about the source of the appendix. I state down the source under the extraction in the appendix. Do I need to include a link of the source in the References? For example. (Source: Wall Street Journal) inside the appendix. Inside the References: Wall Street Journal (years). Title. Available at: link.
    Is this correct?

It does not matter whether you load the spreadsheet against the broadsheet heading or appendix -it is included to remind students they have to load one for a first submission

There is no harm in doing so. The links should be in the Ref list so if you don’t put the link in the appendix it is not a problem. However links shouldn’t go in the report itself.

    Thanks for the confirmation.
Do I need to extract the financial statements in pdf form directly from the annual report for legitimacy purpose or I can just plug in manually into spreadsheet?

I’ve went through this whole thread and found it really useful !! I have one query which was discussed here but I’m still not clear.
Im doing T20 and for showing the use of excel I’ve calculated the % change in revenue and PBT of the company. The graph showing the changes in PBT was edited in Word although I calculated the change in an excel sheet. So, should I create the chart in excel and then paste it as an image in Word or just referencing to the Appendix is enough ?
Secondly, what should I name the tab and the excel file ? I’ve named the tab as % change in PBT over 5 years and the file as Appendix 1.

If you are discussing PBT then you need to include the chart in the report itself. Remember regardless of how you paste it in, the words should be counted as part of your word count

If you only have one worksheet then the actual title of the tab is not important (delete unused sheets) otherwise as long as the title gives some idea of the content that should be sufficient.

Everyone needs to ensure they load an Excel spreadsheet – this is a requirement to pass Assessment Criterion 7 and without an actual spreadsheet that shows formulae you will be tailed.

    Thanks for the reply!!
The word count displayed in Word doesn’t include the words in the charts. I’ll count them myself and include it in the word count on the cover page ?
I’ve included charts for both the changes in PBT and revenue in my report. The calculations for these are in separate excel files. Should I include the other one in appendix 1 itself but with another tab ? And how will I reference it then if its the same doc but with different tab?
