    Hey,

    Can someone tell about the Appendix reference?

    I uploaded my RR, SLS, Reference, Presentation but when I try to upload my Appendix it says Appendix Reference? But I already attached a separate Reference, do I write the Appendix number or what? Do I just put reference number for each Appendix?

    I suppose my question is not clear but in case someone understood what I meant, Kindly let me know what to do.

    Regards

    @Mohammad – Have you tried giving it a Title or Number? The system does not know how many appendices are going to be loaded but dies not want any that could end up with the same file ref I suspect so making you number or name them solves this probably

    Wish to confirm the format for uploading Appendix as I didn’t work on a topic that will require my appendix to be carried out on excel.
    I worked on topic 2 and my appendix is typed on word, is this going to accepted and also like how many pages of slides of Rap and SLS can be presented in 15minutes as required by OBU?
    Kindly feed back as soon as possible.

    Regards,

    @Saad- Absolutely! You will need to include this and details of any interviewees. If we,are talking T6 here then you need a summary of the findings e.g tabulated summary of results (and this should have been posted to the relevant forum T6 so if you have any further queries please post them there). If T8 please remember OBU does not like personal interviews and you need to do adequate secondary research preferably.

    @kayfabuacca

    – MS Word is acceptable

    See the Info Pack about the Presentation and/or use key words ‘RAP Presentaion’ in our search facility

    @mekonen – Allowed but not advisable!

    Post as a separate file (a) it then does not count as part of the word count and (b) is better for the marker as they can keep the file open and don t have to keep scrolling backwards and forwards as they would have to if part of the RAP

    @Saad- As much detail as possible I really hope you are not relying too heavily on Interviews/ questionnaire for T8. They are just NOT necessary and because of doubts about authenticity, markers are not impressed by them at all. You should try to include actual proof that such an interview took place, full title of person, date and as with an audit, independent proof e.g. signed letter on headed paper from the organisation certifying it all. Just having notes in the appendices is of dubious worth – markers will suspect you made the whole thing up.

    Strong Secondary data is preferred.

    Since my excel file already contains the financial statements, do I still have to submit a separate pdf file?

    oh and one more thing, where should I include my table of figures?

    @trephena please help.

    I’m doing topic 8 and I have prepared just 1 excel file called appendices.

    Within my excel file, I have 5 sheets, labelled Appendix 1, Appendix 2 and up till Appendix 5.

    Appendix 1, workings and graphs
    Appendix 2-5 consist of financial statement typed out.

    May I know whether is this acceptable?

    How should I fill in the Appendix reference while uploading?

    Thank you so much

    @CBK1 – That sound fine

    When uploading I think it asks for files by name e.g it will ask you to load your report, SLS, REFERENCE LIST and Presentation and then turn to Appendx/ Appendices. As long as you have labeled the individual tabs on the Excel file it will be clear that you have loaded it all as one file. If you have exceeded the file size limit it will not load and you will have to separate out the sheets and load it as Appendix 1 or 1a, 2 or 2a etc – the names are not terribly important as long as you load everything under the right main heading

    @trephena can I clarify with you. I did topic 8. For the graphs, should I copy from excel and paste as a picture or paste link to excel file or embed it? Must the examiner be able to see the data when they click on my graphs in the words research paper? Thank you

    @CBK1 – The links will only work within the same file – so you should retain the links from any typed financial statements to the ratios and graphs within the Excel spreadsheet However when you put graphs in your report the links will be lost on uploading so paste,as an image.

    Hi,

    Please can any one advise on what exactly to submit. I have read the information pack but I don’t understand the requirements regarding the issues stated below. Forgive me for putting all my questions here. I am constrained by time. I want to submit TODAY.

    1. How many files am I submitting – RAP, SLS, Appendices, Presentation slides and References. Am I required to submit FIVE files? If no, how many files am I required to submit.

    2. For my appendices.. I have several pdfs, long documents, annual report of 2 companies.. law reports. Do I condense these into one Appendices file?

    3. According to the information pack “You will pass ‘communication skills’ if a copy of the Research Report presentation is included in the SLS and your presentation?s structure and content is clearly linked to the Research Report findings. RR presentation within SLS? How many presentations are students required to submit? One within SLS and another one separately? Can someone pls clarify

    Thanks

    @kutase

    1. Yes you will be required to submit the 4 files I have outlined in my reply to CBK1 above + any appendix files

    2. There are file size limits – see the Information Pack – you will not be able to load large pdf files. You will have to provide extracts. You can load about 6- 8 separate appendix files

    3. There is only one Presentation – this should be focused on the Findings from your report – there is a section in the Info Pack on this but take at a look at my recent answer to faizy7 on the Forum topic ‘Resubmission Queries’ where the main requirements are discussed.

    Trephena,
    Forgive me if I sound stupid. Please bear with me.
    I understand your comments above. I have read your reply to faizy7. I understand the SLS requirement on reflection and self evaluation. That is not where my problem lies.

    The area of confusion is page 47 of the information pack.Paragraghs 1 and 2 on that page!- submitting presentation of my Research report in my SLS!

    Presentation of RR in SLS? I thought I am submitting presentation slides separately?

    1. Am I required to prepare separate slides showing my results/analysis and then copy these into my SLS?

    2. Why do I have to incoporate slides into my SLS (I am not questioning the requirements pls). I read tina’s post (under resubmissions forum, I got further confused)
    Am I mixing up something here?

    I am done with my RAP but just taking a final look at the information pack to ensure I comply with every requirement.
    I know you warned about last minute rush but I think I have still got several hours ..left.
    Thanks

    Kutase

    @kutase

    The problem here is one of ambiguity in the Info Pack! The submission contains 2 main parts the Research and Analysis Report and the “SLS”. For some reasons (probably historical ones) the term “SLS” is used interchangebly for this second part AND the Self Reflection element – so it becomes very confusing as you have found. A classic example of this is on p.45, 7 e) of the Info Pack where it mentions the SLS is about answering 4 questions and then (as you point out) on p.47 7f) it says “The SLS is also made up of two parts, one being a reflective statement covering four specific questions and the other a requirement to give a fifteen minute presentation to the student’s mentor and provide evidence of this presentation”.

    Yes you do submit the slides separately – again historically the submission used to be hard copy so it was always a separate document.

    1. And no don’t copy them and put them in the same file as the Self-Reflection as the file will be too big to load!

    2. Perhaps to unravel the muddle it is best to see it as a Report and an SLS that the latter is broken into 2 parts. Part (a) is about Self Reflection and Part (b) is called “Communication” but comprises just the Presentation slides.

    By the way my reply to faizy7 was based on the failures in both parts of the “SLS” and marker-moderator comments regarding both self-reflection and communication/Presentation slides. The Presentation should be one of the easiest things to pass if the basic rules outlined in both the Info Pack and my reply to faizy7 are borne in mind. Unfortunately a surprising number of students still fail it (sometimes even on the Resubmission).

    Yes the submission window closes at midnight GMT today but you should check your submission receipt carefully as if wrong files are loaded or omitted (and yes it does happen) then OBU can refuse to rectify the error unless they are notified immediately and the correct file reloaded straightaway. (This is apparently because unscrupulous students have been known to try to circumvent the deadline by deliberately loading the SLS twice – once as the report – hoping to to “buy” more time to complete their report – OBU is wised up to this ruse and in the interests of students who have played fair and by the rules they can not only refuse to accept a late file but also refuse to refund the submission fee).

    @stevr – to a certain extent it is entirely up to yo how you arrange your Appendices as long as everything is clear and you load them all when submitting. However it is probably best to keep the number of files down to the minimum when loading as it makes it easier to check you have loaded them all correctly.

    So I would suggest one spreadsheet file with a separate tab for balance sheets, a tab for income statements, one for ratio calculations and one for graphs. On each tab you should be able to accommodate all 3 years for each company and both companies on the same tab. Ensure that all tabs and sheets are clearly labelled (personally I would infill the company labels in different colours (the same colours used for the graphs and charts) so that when referring to them during the evaluation you can locate them quickly, but that is just my preference)

    It would not be wrong to have the companies on separate tabs or separate spreadsheets but It is probably easier for you to work from to have them alongside each other.

    Hi there

    I am doing Topic 2 and most of my information is from internal non published documents like internal audit report and a terms of reference report. I have got written authorisation to say OK to use extracts from these documents. My question is do I require to include these extracted documents as an appendix to allow the marker to back up information in my RR as they would have no other way in justifying what I am saying. What is the best way to include as appendix? I also have interview questions and responses, do I just give a summary of findings from interview and then attach full explanations as appendix?

    @denisel – yes make life as easy for the marker as poss. Label the files clearly and try to give a brief title e.g. Appendix 1 IA report, Appendix 2 Interviews. Include the full interviews and responses in the appendices and when using this information in your report refer the reader to the relevant appendix. Include details of the internal documents in your Reference List and you should also include the names of the principal interviewees in your list and add that details are available in Appendix 1, 2 etc.

    Try to put everything related in one file e.g all the interviews together if poss – don’t make the marker download more files than necessary or complicate things

    Hi,

    I am confused regarding this area of RAP.

    I am working on Topic 8 and have created income statements and balance sheets for both companies using spreadsheets on different work sheets.

    For ratios I am planning to use different work sheets, with one sheet having two ratios.

    Is this approach incorrect? since I am not able to link my ratios with other sheet’s cells.

    Shall I do all of my work on one sheet instead?

    Is it fine that way?

    @gulwish -it’s best to have all of the excell workings on one spreadsheet with different tabs then you can link the formula calculations. You will probably find it easier to work like this anyway. DO NOT hard type the ratios you should be showing that you know how to use Excell formulae. It is also a good idea to have the minimum number of Appendices – a marker is not going to exactly love you if they have to spend 5 minutes downloading all of your files – they want to get through their marking asap.
