I’m wonder if anyone ever failed for the same paper more than 5 times yet still reluctant to give up? Will I just wasting my time & money if I go continue my ACCA? I’m loss…
January 20, 2017 at 2:27 pm #368595If you fail the same paper 5times it is more than likely you have serious issues with your exam technique and it’s not the knowledge that you lack.
Make sure your handwriting is beautiful, you must practise past papers under time pressure so that you can practise your handwriting at the same time.
Make sure you structure your answers properly, i.e. write each punchy point into one paragraph. Each next thought must go into another paragraph. Leave one empty row inbetween paragraphs so that your work is transparent, i.e. easy to read and not one big bunch of long-winded text.
Make sure you take advantage of professional marks by using the right headings if you are asked to write a report or a briefing paper etc.
Time management is as crucial as your knowledge (cover the entire syllabus and ignore any exam tips re what topics might come up because any topic may come up any time, so don’t try to predict and only study certain topics). A lot of students cock up ACCA exams because of this. No matter how much you love a topic or how good you are at it, if your time is up then move on to the next question and part question but leave some space so you could come back and write more stuff if you have any time left before the exam finishes.
January 20, 2017 at 2:30 pm #368597Make sure you write your answer plans into the answer booklet. Don’t make the mistake I used to make by writing my answer plans on the question paper. Nobody is going to look at a question paper or give you marks for what you write on it. Highlight key info in the case study but please ensure you write your answer plans and relating bullet points with thoughts and calculations of ratios etc into your answer booklet so that if you don’t get to finish answering the question, the marker may give you a few marks based on your answer plan!
