    Hello Sir

I went through the throughput lecture and understood the concept.

But here in this question my doubt is about the units production.

Corrie produces three products, X, Y and Z. The capacity of Corrie’s plant is restricted by process alpha. Process alpha is expected to be operational for eight hours per day and can produce 1,200 units of X per hour, 1,500 units of Y per hour and 600 units of Z per hour.

The question says the machine is operational for 8 hours a day. About the units, does it mean that per hour the machine can produce x,y,z @ 1200, 1500 and 600 units altogether? or does it mean that the machine can produce either x @ 1200 or Y @1500 or Z @600 units? (as there is only 1 machine)

The question is not very well worded (and is not a past exam question), but it is intended to mean that the machine is capable of producing X at the rate of 1,200 per hour (so each X takes 60/1,200 minutes to produce), is capable of producing Y at the rate of 1,500 per hour (so each Y takes 60/1,500 minutes to produce) or can produce Z at the rate of 600 per hour (so each Z takes 60/600 minutes to produce).
