    Dear Mike

I’m taking P2 this December and I want to ask a couple of questions regarding it.

First question- is it wise to study on my own or is it better I take classes.
Second question is I plan to use the Kaplan study text and BPP revision kit, is this ok or should I just stick to one publisher for both study text and revision kit? Part B of this question is which do you think is better Kaplan or BPP?

I really would like to pass this exam at first sitting and would appreciate a response, thank you very much.

Studying on your own is an option which I could NEVER have taken. But that’s a personal attitude – I lack the self-discipline to motivate myself for prolonged periods of time. I know people who have succeeded entirely with self-study and I know others who have tried and eventually resorted to classes. From my own perspective, I would choose classes every time …. but my employer paid for my courses!

There is no way I am going to recommend neither Kaplan, BPP nor indeed any other publisher.

There may be a little difficulty in the different workings (particularly for consolidations) (and incidentally, my workings on this site are different again from both Kaplan and BPP!)

I’m inclined to suggest that you select one or the other and don’t mix them.

Sorry to be so unhelpful 🙁

Post again if you come across any matter which you come across in your studies and about which you have some doubts or confusion
