With an administrative review, you are bringing in to question the ACCAs processes, which ‘should’ be watertight
I cant imagine that there are many that get the result they wanted following a review
We all have papers we think we have walked when we havent, and others we think we failed when we didnt, just suck it up and retake next time. Its frustrating, but you may have read the questions incorrectly, thinking it required a type of answer that it didnt. Being an accountant is about accuracy

Sometimes I really don’t understand the markers but since ACCA marking system is a closed shop I will recollect myself after the mourning period and move on. It’s so depressing.

August 8, 2013 at 10:04 am #136289I know what you guys mean, I got 42 at tax in December and thought it was a disaster paper. This sitting I actually enjoyed the exam and thought I done enough, got 40 this morning, thought I would pass this and fail P7 but it was the other way around.
I was adamant I done better, read on the first page some girl saying she believed she got higher and ACCA admitted marking her paper wrong, what are the chances?

Please can someone advise “how” to go about a paper review? I was so sure I had my P5 as a pass and it is a shock that it came as a fail.I wil prepare against december but I would like to know what went wrong here. I am sad about this; I also think ACCA should do better reviews; I have no faith in the system anymore.
January 21, 2016 at 2:07 am #296790I got 49 for f6. I think I should let them review it.
April 17, 2017 at 7:15 pm #382217Hi, can someone please guide me on how to apply for the administrative review. I can’t find the option in myacca portal.
Thank you
October 16, 2017 at 7:55 pm #412001Hi Berryberry, did you get an administrative review after all?
October 17, 2017 at 7:49 pm #412191I failed P7 @ 49. It was one of my best attempts with 95% of paper attempted. I opted to go for review.
The result was unchanged as expected. However, they provided me a breakdown of which questions I had passed and which one failed.(First three passed & 4th failed)
Next attempt I spent more time on the topics that are common in 4th question.
Changed my strategy and attempted 3rd and 4th question first followed by Q# 1& 2.I ended up attempting only 85% of the exam.
Strategy worked and passed with 64%. Affiliate now.October 17, 2017 at 11:46 pm #412212Just for your knowledge, admin review does not mean a remark on the paper, it means that someone will just retabluate the score to ensure that it is computed correctly in which from statistics, only 0.1%, these are wrongly calculated. There won’t be any review marking for your answers.
April 17, 2018 at 10:21 am #447687i have failed on 49… did review ever work for anyone?

Dear all,
I would like to ask, whether any of you had any experience with Examination Appeals Committee?
My recent SBL result came as a nasty surprise to me (I was confident I did well), I was far away from the pass mark.
I appealed for an administrative review, got an answer very, very quickly. No change and the table I was provided contained the following information: all my questions (bar 1) were marked as fail, which sounds strange.
Is there any point of making additional appeal?
April 17, 2019 at 9:07 pm #513314Hi @jeyne,
Well ACCA does take its marking process really seriously. They make sure they make no error in marking as it can make a difference between a pass and a fail.
I have never got any of my papers reviewed so can only give you a personal opinion on this. The decision is at the end of the day yours to make.
As you mentioned that you got it reviewed once and there was no change…then unfortunately that must be the case. So better to move on.
If you’re still sceptical about it talk with ACCA about this…they will be able to provide you with guidance.
Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your message. I’ve contacted ACCA and it seems there is no possibility of having your paper remarked.
If anyone is interested in this, here is the information on the appeal process I’ve received. Maybe you will find it useful.
ACCA’s appeals process is not a re-marking service and you will not receive any further feedback on your examination performance other than what was previously stated in your feedback letter. The Committee will undertake independent checks to confirm all stages of the administrative review process were undertaken and the correct mark was in fact issued to you. ACCA do not offer a re-marking service.

I heard people saying the administrative review doesn’t work, but here is an example there is slim chance. I got 49 in PM after the 5th attempt. I need advise. I am positive I was supposed to pass the exam. Is administrative review same as appealing to the committee?
July 22, 2021 at 5:19 pm #629142Admin review is explained here https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/exam-results/admin-reviews.html
Markers/examiners/exam administrators do not know whether a student’s attempt is 1st, 5th or 10th … 49% is 49% regardless. I don’t know what you mean by “appealing to the committee” – if you mean for mitigating circumstances the deadline was 22nd June – there is no appeal after this date. If you mean to appeal an administrative review, you would obviously have to pay for the admin review in the first place.
The examiner’s report – available here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f5/examiners-reports1.html – may help inform your decision. You have to be convinced your mark should have been a pass and some shortcoming in the admin process must account for only 49% if you want to spend money on an admin review. You should not look upon it as something that might “find 1 more mark” – all the possible checks that might find 1 more mark have already been undertaken.
