An accountant in a big firm had a very strange habit. Every morning he used to open his drawer, look at a paper and then lock the drawer again. The trainees were very curious and thought of his success is hidden on that paper in his drawer. So one day, when the accountant was out, the trainees decided to break the lock, whn they broke the lock & took out the paper, it was written on the paper:
left is debit and right is credit

    interestingly funny!

i’m incline to belief that we talk less of dr & cr at some point in proffesional life. when are left with strategic thinking.

    my friend asked me

why debit is in while credit is out?

because debit on left side and credit on right side

(if thinking logically , our right hand to take while left to give)

i really don’t have the answer

    then i said to her

“WHY NOT YOU ASK THE QUESTION TO THE FATHER OF ACCOUNT AND ASK HIM WHY?”

P/S: sometimes, we have to accept the thing without to think of why. SIMPLE.

That secret in the drawers is a necessary one indeed.

when i first did my CAT paper B, ACCA taught me something i will never forget.

thats is DRIVE ON THE LEFT AND CRASH N THE RIGHT…….this applies to those who drive on the left lane.

Thank you very much; I’m in a depressive moode – not working for ALMOST eighty months and decided to view the joke – It’s the best. Pure laughter and I’ll assume that this accountant is helping is sorbornates to identifies errors or accounts to be investigated from the trail balance. It is FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told….. relate most entries back to the cashbook via CID and COC (????) ….. (cash in debit) and (cash out credit) then the other side of your double entry will be correct. Stuck with me for years.
