@redbull – I think in most desktop setups the webcam will be external. But a mobile phone may be used during the check-in process as indicated by the response to the Q “What should I do with my mobile phone during the exam?” https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/remote.html
March 1, 2021 at 12:16 pm #612319Exam day and launching your exam
The link to launch your exam will appear in ‘Your Plan’ within Exam Planner at 00:00 (BST) on the day of the exam. To access ‘Your Plan’, log into myACCA, select ‘book an exam’, and select ‘Your Plan’.Once you click the ‘begin’ button, you will be prompted to download some invigilation software and enter your phone number. In the event of any technical issues arising during the exam which cannot be resolved through the online chat, the invigilator will attempt to contact you by phone.
For exam security purposes you will then be prompted to take some pictures of yourself, your ID and your environment. You can then upload them, preferably using your mobile phone, by following the on-screen instructions. As soon as the check in process is complete, make sure your phone is out of arms reach.
March 1, 2021 at 12:34 pm #612324@jbharier – thank you for quoting that – yes phones are mentioned in the “On exam day” information here http://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html
March 1, 2021 at 3:25 pm #612369The children who live on my road have been playing football matches on the green every day (lots of screaming and shouting!) and I’m worried the noise from them will be an issue. There’s also an icecream truck that is likely to come around during the exam period. The room I’ll be sitting my exam in is at the front of the house so I’m really worried my exam will be cancelled because of it.
Has anyone sat an exam with outdoor noise going on?Thanks.
March 1, 2021 at 4:04 pm #612385I’ve got a question about the SBL CBE exam, when you go onto the CBE practice platform, you get a word processor- does this single word processor have to be used for all questions (e.g you just keep scrolling down on the document) or do you get a new word processor for each question (I imagine not because I can’t find a way to get one processor per question, but it isn’t made clear… )thank you
March 1, 2021 at 4:09 pm #612390As long as the noise isn’t too loud outside you should be fine. I had a bit of faint traffic noise in my AAA exam today but they didn’t say anything.
I did SBL last time, from memory it is one sheet for all questions.
March 1, 2021 at 5:21 pm #612406@connortj – according to the March 2020 Sample Qs (page 7) available here http://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader/past-exam-papers.html – you should choose your response option for each task.
March 1, 2021 at 6:53 pm #612440Now I ‘m also confused about taking pictures. Do I understand correctly that pictures should be taken by webcamera? In the ACCA website video is mobile hone mentioned as first, but I do not understand how then the pictures are uploaded into the system.
March 1, 2021 at 7:22 pm #612444@edite they text a web link to your mobile phone and then you take the photos on your phone and upload them via the link.
Just to give others an insight – part way through my Dec Tax exam I was interrupted by an invigilator on chat who asked why I kept looking to my right. This was where my calculator was placed (next to my right hand). I had to move the webcam to show them this. They then told me I wasn’t allowed a scientific calculator & my exam would be terminated if I didn’t remove it immediately. I said this was incorrect but they wouldn’t back down. I didn’t want to waste even more exam time so gave in (the invigilators are very slow at replying!). This was the calculator I have used for all my ACCA exams before & it isn’t programmable so not sure what the issue was. I told ACCA afterwards but never got a response. For my exam on Thurs, I’m going to make sure my calculator is in the centre of the desk & I’m thinking of just using a basic calc to be safe.
March 1, 2021 at 7:50 pm #612455@lhumphreys – I suggest you have the scientific calculator you want to use and the basic one to hand in reserve. If the invigilator challenges you you can politely say, that you would like to proceed with this calculator which you know to be permitted and that the invigilator can of course report this but it should not prevent you from sitting the exam. It seems that some invigilators are used to a non-scientific calculator exam policy for other qualifications. I know it creates unnecessary stress and I have already reported to ACCA. You would then report in feedback through myACCA.
March 2, 2021 at 7:16 am #612518@lhumpreys – thank you very much! Now it is clear regarding pictures, Quite a lot of additional stress with CBE..
March 2, 2021 at 11:05 am #612602Hi all,
I am currently struggling to load the next questions on the CBE practice platform.
I have opened all the tabs-buttons even and scroll down but it keeps denying access to the next questions.
I have changed the browser even but still no change.
Is it something the inviligator can help with during the live exam?
I am so worried i get stuck in the 50 mark questions.Thanks.
March 2, 2021 at 11:33 am #612638@imelda2007 – I cannot help you as I just tried an exam in chrome browser and everything worked fine for me. I’m afraid that the invigilator will not be able to provide you with any technical support in the exam. When I had different and rather strange problems with the practice platform I found that they were resolved when I rebooted my PC.
March 2, 2021 at 3:13 pm #612694Thanks for your feedback. I Will try to reboot
March 2, 2021 at 9:39 pm #612851Hi,
I live in a completely open plan house, the most I have is 3 sold walls with the 4th being a large open doorway, there won’t be anyone else at home at exam time, will this be an issue still? Has anyone else sat a remote exam in this sort of room layout?
March 2, 2021 at 10:41 pm #612859I used a macbook for my AAA and SBL exam, both exam i had technique issues,
In the AAA exam, i used Chinese typing, when i tried to type in the working sheet, the exam screen was freeze for 20 mins till the invigilator relaunched Onvue for me to allow me changed the typing language to English.
In SBL exam, I lost the last 15 mins, because I cannot type or move the exam exhibit and the working windows. And I asked invigilator, nobody answer me.
I hope nothing will happen to my next AFM exam on Friday.
I have submitted mitigation circumstances for exam, I hope ACCA can take those system issues seriously, I quit my job and spare 3 whole months to prepare those three exams, I don’t want to fail because of the system issue because of the issue from Onvue software. That will unfair to all the ACCA students and will have bad reputation toward the organization.March 3, 2021 at 7:50 am #612898@abbietres – I cannot say for sure but I would suggest that you set up your desk so the open doorway is behind you as that way the camera would pick up if anyone else were to be there. I don’t think the invigilator would be happy with it the other way round.
March 3, 2021 at 12:26 pm #613014Hi !
I am taking my exam from home tomorrow. Does anyone know if there is any timer on the remote session where I can see how much time I have got left ? Alternatively, can I have a watch with me?
March 3, 2021 at 12:36 pm #613017@emiliasu – please look at the links I provided in my initial post at the beginning of this thread. The answer is yes – see “Can I wear a watch or have a clock on the wall?” on this page:
https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.htmlMarch 3, 2021 at 4:25 pm #613112Hi,
Today for my PM exam the invigilator asked me to remove my mouse mat as it’s not allowed?
Just wanted to check if this is right and anyone else had this, seemed strange ?Thanks,

Dear Kim and Colleagues
I need your help, I’m watching the related video “how launch the exam on the exam day”, after I select the button of check-in. I have to copy the access code in order to enter the OnVue program then as the direction is to press the next button to download the OnVue program.
I already downloaded the latest version of OnVue program and I tested the technical requirements and the system for the need of the exam.
Accordingly, I need to know shall I delete the downloaded version on my laptop before check in the exam in order to download the OnVue or the downloaded copy will work immediately?
Please advice!!!
ThanksMarch 3, 2021 at 5:23 pm #613125@Amaniabuzaid – as I am not a student I have not been able to walk through the “on the day” process – but I would have thought that if you already have the software, any download would overwrite it if necessary.
I found on PV’s site: “You will be asked to download OnVUE, the online proctoring software, if you haven’t before. Follow the prompts in the application to complete the required check-in steps.” So this suggests that you will only have the prompt if you don’t have it.
So I would not have thought that you need to delete it.
Can anyone please confirm this? THANK YOU @ruksyy for confirmation (below)!
March 3, 2021 at 5:31 pm #613130@slawlor92 – on the basis that a mouse mat is not listed as a permitted item – and the video does not show one – I advised another student who asked this before the exam that they should be happy that their mouse works satisfactorily without one. And if to have a mouse mat – to make sure that it is completely plain so could not be concealing anything – and be prepared to discard it if told that it is not allowed.
March 4, 2021 at 9:35 am #613268There was no need to delete any downloads. On the day, check in through your ACCA portal, download the On Vue and follow the steps. It’s all generally straightforward and involves providing your phone number in which they will send you a link. On there, they show what pictures they require e.g Face, ID and room pictures. These are then sent to invigilators who confirm and can launch your exam. The whole process took around about 5 mins so it’s very quick if there’s no issues. Hope that helps!
March 4, 2021 at 11:47 am #613291Thanks for your reply.
So uploading the pictures for me and my ID and the room by mobile is it much better ?
Please advise and many thanks in advance - AuthorPosts
