    Hi,Mr.Mike.
Can you please explain the questions for me? Thank you very much.

1.Madge has been employed at MECO Ltd for the past 26 months, although she has taken 6 months’ maternity leave in that period.
Will Madge be eligible for a redundancy payment?

2.Which of the following describes the remedy awarded for non-payment of a contractual sum owed?

    Quantum meruit
    Action for price
    Nominal damages

I think that it’s probably the answers that you want me to explain – the questions seem to be pretty much unambiguous!

The answer to your first question would appear to be “Yes, Madge is eligible for redundancy payments

To be certain, I accessed the website http://www.Maternityaction.org.uk – a site that goes into great detail about redundancy, pregnancy, maternity leave and even shared parental leave

The answer to question 2 would be “action for price”

Quantum meruit would apply where one party has only partially completed their contractual responsibilities and is now looking for partial payment for the partial performance

Nominal damages are awarded by the Court to the “winner” in a dispute almost in the way of a gesture … “Yes, you’re right, but you’ve not really lost much so we’re only going to award you £50 (say)”

I believe that it was Marilyn Monroe that successfully sued a newspaper that had described her as “an empty-headed bimbo”. She used on the basis that her character was being damaged. The Court agreed with her and awarded her $1

    OK?
