    December January February March April

    Required:
    (a) Calculate the cash balance at the end of each month in the three-month period.

    But in the answer
    the took the month January February March

    @Why the didn’t take the months December January February?

    The very first sentence in the question says that they are preparing a cash flow forecast for the three-month period from January to the end of March. So these are the three months that they require.
