I attempted Example 1 – Discounting and provisions in CH 13 using instead the method laid out in the BPP text (the solution to Activity 1 in CH14 FYI). I calculated the initial Provision, and the Carrying Amount at the end of the year, with the balancing figure being the unwound discount. My answer differed to yours by a couple hundred, likely from rounding. All a long winded way to ask – is there a margin of error to account for different answers from rounding in the exam?
Hi,
No you would not be penalised for rounding in the exam. The simplest thing to do is to try and keep the rounding until the final answer, but if you round earlier then it will be fine.
Thanks
