Hello!
Simply,
Would I gain professional marks for citing the relevant IFRS or IAS number? Eg in a question about inventory I can say “IAS 2 requires”
Secondly, Would I get a penalty for citing the wrong Standard? Eg In a question about agriculture I say “According to IFRS 16”
Or in the question for leases I incorrectly cite IAS 17 instead of IFRS 16Would there be a penalty on
1. the normal marks available on the question
Eg. if I get a question which is out of 10 marks and I do it very well such that I deserve 10 marks, will I get a penalty on that question and score like 8 or 9 marks if I had cited the wrong standard number?2. The professional marks available on the question
As in if I cite a wrong standard but then do the other things right like present my argument very well such that I would get 2 marks for that argument on its own, but because I cited the wrong standard I would only get 1 marksJuly 17, 2017 at 9:35 pm #397188Hi,
Don’t bother putting in the standard number. You don’t get credit for mentioning it but you wouldn’t be penalised for getting it wrong, so just leave it out.
I would also never start a sentence with “According to IFRS/IAS……….”. Just put in the rules and apply them.
Professional marks are awarded for the quality of the discussion and presentation. So write in full, clear English sentences and use headings/sub-headings.
Thanks
