i am a student of acca who study alone and english is my second language

at first attempt i think i had imperfect knowledge so i accept the score i was given
but over second and third attempt i think i put my effort on it and learn more knowlege but still got 40
dont know what is wrong and i assume that i missed out some technical skills or skills for catch the point or skills for writing someting like that i dont know
please give some advice for me i really need some help
thank you very muchJuly 18, 2017 at 3:19 am #397224besides you said you would never start a sentence with “according to IFRS/IAS” but i always did and i think i mension the rule first and apply it to the senario. maybe it was not structured and clear
so it could be seen not clear english sentence no headings and no apply
what should i do?July 24, 2017 at 10:26 am #398361Hi,
It sounds like you’re in a very frustrating situation but don’t give up. It will just be a small number of minor points that will be causing you to score how you’ve been doing.
If we break it down question by question then there’s some things you need to think about.
Question 1 – Are you spending too long on crunching the numbers? Are you explaining what you’re doing when you don’t need to do so? Do you attempt the ethics section? How is your time management? I’d have thought your knowledge is fairly strong now and so you need to be scoring well on Q1 in the time available.
Question 2/3 – I think you’ve answered this one already above. Yes, don’t start the question with “Per IFRS/IAS……..” and also try to use headings to breakdown your answer. Ensure you’re comfortable with the key topics within the syllabus: revenue, leases (new standard), pensions, share based payments, financial instruments.
Question 4 – Have you ever attempted this question? I personally think that sometimes it can be a lot easier than some of the other optional questions on the exam paper. By working through past exam questions on this area it helps your knowledge on the accounting standards too.
Keep working hard and ensure that you practise the past exam questions under timed exam conditions. If you have any technical questions then please just ask on the forum.
Thanks
