hi guys
the exam is ok not easy for short time but easy with addition time to do some thing like that :
read carfaully with short time , procees your brain ,geat idea response.calculated mathmatics .all of this with 3 hours only is not enugh.
this is the problem
you can pass this exam by addition time not only 3 hoursgoooooooooood luck all of best with passing

cant believe anyone saying the paper was too easy.the paper was rather”ok” , with differencies pointed out.it;s the first time we’re given theory in a whole 20points question.i didn;t expect linear programming (unfortunately 20 points lost),the theory took me lots of time, variances(especially labor were difficult to sort out), ABC was also time-pressuring& i cant judge myself correctly upon Q2..i hope for some leniency..(???)..&luck…Good luck to us all..

i did what i could but not to the best of my ability.oh God help me to get a break even….Amen
December 15, 2010 at 12:06 pm #74664All said and done, Linear programming was quite easy, but I completely messed it up as chose to solve it sequentially second. I could not give adequate time when the twist and turn appeared in the question. As I was quite sure of scoring the mark in all other questions I moved on, thinking to come back later and rework it. I came back in the last 5 minutes and remessed it up, which might have spoiled my chances of atleast 10 marks that would have scored if I had nt re attempted it.
Mr. Sharedose is correct , the paper was not challenging.Believe me I was expecting this, you know why?. This was last exam if this before the change takes place in the June session. Also the new examiner doest not want any surprise and want to ensure that the maximum students who have been studying this for quite some time to secure a pass.
I am devastated when I could solve the linear programming question at home!!!!.
December 15, 2010 at 12:30 pm #74665Hi everybody. Peper was ok but too big for 3 hours. its like didnt give a time for thinking at all. I also stuck with graph as couldnt get optimal point as 1600 and 1666.66 why to give such numbers for the graph in the exam? 15 min reading time i just managed to read and undesrtand only one Q about performance measurement. and they say u need to read carefully and a few times. English isnt my first language but my english is quite good. i didnt even read about fixed cost in linear programing as was in rush and didnt do shadow and slack. i just thought she gave a hint there about calculate slack for power and shadow for other so i thought optimal point will be sowhereon labour and other poduct and calculate contribution with fixed expence probably which i ididnt even notice..:( another 15-20 min i would have done shadow and slack and wrote some more in others as well!!!! F2 and F3 i covered all and finished exam before exam ended so had plenty time for thinking and going back as well. I will tell them next time when they will call for survey what i think!!! Hope for a pass if i didnt miss anything else in rush!!! Merry Xmas everyone!

I forgot to tick off the questions I answered on the cover sheet (I answered all) will this affect the marking in any way?

I ALSO DIDN’T TICK THE QUESTIONS I HAD ANSWERED IN FRONT OF THE ANSWER SHEET!!DOES THAT MATTER?!!!

my labour Variances showed all “0” ..no favourable or adverse,
I am confused that was it to show on Temporary Labour or Permanent Labour
i didn’t see what budgeted cost of Temporary labour hours!!!
TIME PRESSURE !! i left c part in Question 5 and and b part on Linear Programming!!
ABC , just like T7 of CAT but Drivers to take, it was challenging !!!
hope i will pass paper!!December 16, 2010 at 11:41 am #74672AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

wtf!!!I Had Worked so much on learning curve and decision making but the stupid examiner changed the whole format!!!!
i didnt even look at linear progaming while prep as it was questioned in the last attempt!!!!December 16, 2010 at 11:43 am #74673AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

F 5 is becoming an easy paper to pass but lots of time wasted in diffult topics such as time series and regression n learning curve!!new rule with new examiner! Whatever question appears in Dec can appear in June 2011!!Be prepared do not skip linear programming and ABC at any cost!!!!!!!

guys labour variance was easy with rate variance at 2200(550*4) and effiency variance at 3850(275*14) total variance 6050(given also in question)

“dont worry… its not gonna cost you anything, but its always good that you tick them so that no question is left unmarked”
.
“dont worry i have asked acca connect they said u will not be punished for that and marking will be true & fair “cheers everyone, happy holidays!

Overall the paper was a bit challenging and technical:
Question 1:Did not understand the labour variances
Question 2;Fairly easy but due to the time constraint did not structure explanation as well as I would have wanted to, but gave as much explanation as I could.
Question 3: Linear programming was o.k except for the slack and shadow price an forgot one of the constraints. But hope I gather. Enough points regardless.
Question 4: Was a bit unsure about the ABC cost driver rates calculated
Question 5: was the most manageable
Overall, realized most of the errors I made after the exam and can only hope to pass. All the best to everyone and Merry Christmas.December 16, 2010 at 1:44 pm #74684@gashibari said:

i didnt even look at linear progaming while prep as it was questioned in the last attempt!!!!All the syllabus are compulsory – so you can’t blame the examiner – it could be anything on the exam..and there is no rule that if it was on the previouos sesion it can’t be on the next..The exam was too easy – that you can’t complain…the theory question – was a gift – easy 20 marks. I agree the time was tight – but you need only 50% to pass..what’s more?

I must admit when i opened the paper I was very shocked to see linear programming and abc as it was on previous paper! the paper was not that hard but you needed a much longer amount of time to complete it! time was too short!
December 16, 2010 at 5:47 pm #74686Time for the exam was short. Enjoyed Q1, Q2, Q4 and part of Q5 did not attempt Q3. Hope I passed. Thanks again to OT especially John the F5 lecturer for your time
Let us start early on the P subjects guys. I really enjoyed sharing information with you.

I thought the paper was generally ok. though, some unexpected areas like the planning and the operational variance, the formation of the constaraints on the Linear programming too was a bit doggy, Apart from these two areas I guess the paper was genearally cool and I should hope just for a pass.
December 16, 2010 at 8:59 pm #74688Well the truth is the examiner was SNEAKY, she knew the last papers topics will not be much expected by the students and she tried to catch us out. That is just plain nasty.
I was hoping for 80% when I went in the exam and know hoping to clear it.
