    Qt 1
    Selling price $400 and $700
Margin of safety was around 26-27% for both.
Plan A was short by about 21 million Plan B was 140 Million or ahead by 5 million.
Long paper but which P level paper has ever been short?

I had 115-120 million profit using Plan A and 139.9 million using plan B
    Happy to see similar answers!

Very tough, not what I was expecting. Started off well with q1(i) but all downhill from there. Had to spend too much time on Q1 and had to rush the other ones. Definite fail.

Yes ! Plan Γ€ was around 115-120 and plan B around 140-141 so only Plan B would reach the target of 135 …

like a numpty i only increased for 1 year πŸ™

Did you do any written on this part? Surely 9 marks wasn’t just for calcs?

Also what did anyone put for planning KPI’s??

This confused me because we have only ever been taught building and monitoring and internal and external.

Also what did people put for PEST?

Think planning KPIs is similar to the monitoring and building KPI terminology. I put planning as future KPIs and controlling as past, present financial based measures.

Oh dear, didn’t answer the performance gap with numbers – just wrote some random stuff about them conflicting with one another. Lost loads of marks. Wish some of the theory had actually come up!

@louibee. There were 2 separate quality costs. One was per unit so needed multiplying up plus the fixed element. Can’t remember the numbers tho.

The linking kpi’s to planning and control was harder to think of and I think I went for which ones are more strategic/tactical/operational as strategic is more to do with long term and others to do with day to day stuff. There were only 2 which I picked as planning, roce and profit (I think)

I was pleasantly surprised as this was a retake and I had P4 1st take aswell (and that was horrendous!!) so I only revised for a day and a half!!!

Good luck to all. Merry Xmas

sales were 700 and 400 per unit
contribution were 145 and 375 per unit
sales volume increased 4% each year
    Fixed 120m

Question 2 and 3 were tough. Quite open to interpretation and very easy to repeat yourself

myopia – is shorted sightedness so the directors didn’t want to change anything because the company was doing ok, so they weren’t looking forward.

The Q1 i does not ask to comments on the calculations. I think only calculations are enough.
But I have not reviewed performance gap part. When asked planning, I just moved some knowledge from F5 talking about variance between budget and flexed budget.
I chose Q4. League table looks like appearing in a technical article. Q2 I omitted RIFD in my revision.
    Other part is ok.

    Ques 1 was okay.

Ques 2 was easy but I messed up. Confused Pyramid with Prism πŸ™

Ques 3 had no idea whatever that was

Ques 4 was okay as well

I have got exactly the same numbers in q1:)
    myopia – consider focus on shorter term ROCE (delaying investments) rather than on overall objective of wealth max (suggestested Eva instead);
ossfication -mamagers reluctant to change the actual perf. sys although proble arise (complaints from customer, instit. shareholders etc):

    Good luck to you!

Dear guys, I do really hope that this time we will pass P5 and become affiliates!!! Wish all of us only PASS!!!

on the exam: Q1 i) required only to calculated and no evaluaiton of performance, I just don’t remember whether fixed costs were in total $ millions or per unit? I understood as fixed costs and variable costs were per unit.
    v) on strategies, I’ve got that Plan A and B will give more than 135 m, as I found it total profit per Cheerful and Posh divided by units and multiplied it by increased units in 2 years time. I guess there won’t be target profit gap but will be performance gap as Posh was more expensive than Cheerful and demand in Beeline was increasing within middle class population.
on KPIs controlling vs operating, I wrote that most of KPIs are for planning as before entering to the market, there is a need to identify profit, selling price. but the same KPIs can be used after all for controlling purposes as well. You think would it be correct approach?

Q2: was ok. performance pyramid, in Graviton there was no concentration on productivity, revenue was increasing, ROCE withing industry, but investors complaining on dividend growth, so the problem would be in controllingn costs especially when they are paying for overtimes. Anybody would agree with it?
on part b) I think i confused ossification, as I wrote, that ossification is when fixing on one measure only, and wrote that senior manager is ossified on target profit when there are other measures to concentrate on.

Q4: I wrote that no measure on VFM, ranking will demotivate as some regions may be deprived or under development, high unemployment and will lead to higher crime rate.
part be, only 1 merit gave on improvement of performance, on employee behavior demotivation.

Please, guys, share with your ideas. I do really hope for PASS and become AFFILIATE FEBRUARY 2014!!!
    Thanks to ALL!!!
