I’m gutted, failed again with 40. I was fairly confident that i had passed. I studied hard for months, I structured all my answers, I managed my time very welll and didn’t leave any answers. The first time I didn’t prepare well, I ran out of time and missed out a few questions and got 46. Just don’t understand!!! I’m thinking about appealing and sounds like I’m not the only one.

I failed P1 and I’ve got a question, I have both the study text and revision kit for exams in 2011, do you think I can use them for June 2011 or do I have to buy for 2013? I thought they were all th same basically.

I didnt make it even though the mark is not too bad. It wasnt a difficult paper after all but i didnt do well enough to get a good mark. Working and studying is really bit hectic, articles demands more time than my studies. I was lacking exam technique not the knowledge part of the exam as i noticed that this subject (all professional levels) test most on application level not knowledge(copy and paste) . I never had time to do more than two past exam papers (didnt make more time) but this year i am really gonna distinct (nailed) this paper. This is my first exam fail. I need help on exam techniques. I also love to hear advices from those who made it. Please suggest your advices- all participants you are welcome.
My advice to those who didnt make it : Dont quit but keep on and keep on. You must face the challenge because there is no big things/rewards just come with no price attached. God is with you for he promised in his word that He will never leave you nor foresake you. All you need to do is to shift your mindset and see yourself passing . I really believe that its not God’s will for you to fail but the choice (intetional and un intetional) we make . My choice is that i am completing my exams this year and by the end of next year June i will be a qualified CA. I choose not to be a failure but a winner . A failure is somebody who quits and gave up on himself/herself . If you know that your reedemer lives then why are you quiting.
You better stop complaining and start preparing for the exam not waiting for the last minute.

    Passed with 78%.
Re study technique, whilst I agree that it is essential to do past papers, for essay exams YOU DON’T HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO WRITE THEM ALL OUT. It is enough to practise writing out 2-3 exams (unless you know that you have specific issues with this. Otherwise, it is far more time efficient to simply read the questions and answers from the study books, underlining/highlighting key phrases. You can go through 3-4 exams in the time it takes to write out one practise paper.

Also advise flash cards and note taking. Check out the Kaplan free advice centre. Make your paper as clear as possible for examiner to see the mark and award it.

Passed 50% Thank you God and Open Tuition. I just used the Open Tuition study texts, listened to the lectures and did several past exams under exam conditions then marked them and looked at the model answers to see where I made mistakes and practiced my time management. It must be exam technique for this exam as I started with question 1 but didn’t manage my time well had to rush to try and attempt all questions, I must have left at least 25 marks unanswered i did count them up at the end . I totally lost my time management that I had practiced and had it under control. Don’t give up if you failed sit as many past papers that you can and ensure that your answers include the points given in the model answers. also ensure that you only write the right amount of points per the mark allocations, read and re-read the question, pick out the verbs as they will guide you on how to structure your answer. all the best everyone.

Lucky to pass at 50%. Thought I can get above 60%, coz most of what I read came out. Does the examiner really read the answer script??
