    Hi,

There are two workings as we are asked to prepare both the Group SFP and the Group SPLOCI. The NCI in the Group SFP is as at the reporting date, so is a cumulative amount of NCI measured at that date. The NCI in the Group SPLOCI is for the year ended, so is reflective of the NCI that has been earned in the last twelve months. Exam questions haven’t examined the two statements together so it is unlikely that you’d need to do this in an exam question.

What is it specifically about the workings that you do not understand? The Group SFP working is the standard working to calculate the NCI, so shouldn’t cause too many issues. I appreciate that the Group SPLOCI working is a bit odd as we normally just calculate the total comprehensive income attributable to the NCI in a much simpler working at the bottom of the Group SPLOCI. Remember to use a columnar format to present your SPLOCI and you should be OK.

    Thanks
