    Hello Kim
I wanted to enquire about one thing.
My father started a business in 2018.it was a petrol pump business.
I have worked in the petrol pump in 2018 till now. Like I do work like accounting and managing..and cash counting ..accounting.. overseeing the work of other people .. I help my father in his business..
But..it is something that is informal.. so now when applying for membership… I wanted to ask you.. would it be allowed if I submit the work experience that I had in the petrol pump? I have been helping him in petrol pump but as I said it’s informal.. when applying for membership should I take experience from outside? Please can you provide guidance on what should be done.

There are three aspects to PER – completing 36 months – achieving 9 performance objectives and recording/reporting in the online My Experience record https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/practical-experience-per.html

If you download the quick guide from that link you will see that your experience has to be “properly supervised” and ultimately signed off by a qualified accountant – so such an informal arrangement as you describe most likely cannot count.

You will find other FAQs about PER here https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/student-faqs-practical-experience-requirements.html

Please note also that a new “Qualified” forum has been set up for questions about PER, CPD, etc https://opentuition.com/forum/qualified-members-forum
