How was it?
March 9, 2022 at 9:40 am #650427What was the marking scheme for the questions? Anybody remembers?
March 9, 2022 at 10:00 am #650431I had the Yexmarine case study
Q1 – on the strategy committee suggested benefits and issues with proposal such as no FD or no independence on the committee
Q2a – To do with organisation change, was a bit confused (feel this question was not well written?) Discussed how rapid change can affect moral and uncertainty, employees feel they are not being heard
Q2b – In the letter tried to be reassurance, stated taking risk analysis on flooding, will provide training and employee representation on the board
Q3 – Evaluation of the two projects, I discussed each element and concluded with the Dinghies as they payback quicker, less risky and allow contingency funds to support other important strategic decisions
Q4 – On the risks of the move to Lympool discussed using the risk map and couple of other suggestions such as ensuring insurance cover loss of income in case of flooding and more proactive approach to the obsolescence products
Q5 On benefits of the e-marketing company, discussed benefits of outsourcing and the 6I’s
I generally felt the paper was okay apart from question 2 which was a bit confusing and didn’t really fit into anything i studied. It seems that there was a lot to study and only a couple of areas came up.
Best of luck to everyone, this is a mammoth paper in terms of things to know.
March 9, 2022 at 10:41 am #650436Happy to see at least one other person put no FD and employee representation for Q1 strategic board committee proposal
the fact that CEO wanted to hold these meetings spontaneously rather than regularly was also a red flag
He only wanting to hold meetings when a strategic decision needs to be made is not proactiveWas short of time for last Q about advertising agency
Mentioned big data analysis of customer data, search engine optimisation for increased views, more aesthetic website for Yexmarine, their campaign strategy of “emotionally engaging” customer would work well in terms of luxury yachts which are aesthetic and captivating (I recommended luxury yachts in q3)Hope we all pass!
March 9, 2022 at 10:42 am #650437(Seeyacht Co’s campaign strategy I mean)
March 9, 2022 at 2:42 pm #650452I could not understand task 1 hence no marks there for me. What was this about?
March 9, 2022 at 3:26 pm #650485It depends on which question you got. There were two exams. One was about strategy committee. and another exam asked us to evaluate the Ceo’s opinion of the roles between Chairman and CEO. That’s question 1
The proposal to acquire and emarketing questions also had some differences.
I believe the only questions that were the same for all variants were question 2 (employee issues) and question 4 (risk question)

I got the latter. which i find it was very easy, all I had to do was assess all his opinions and comment if its wrong or not and give recommendations
March 9, 2022 at 5:09 pm #650514I could not finish the paper, left about 15 marks, and also had to really rush in the last few questions that i managed to finish.
No one seems to have time pressure by looking at the thread comments. no hope of passing then, i guess : (
March 9, 2022 at 5:22 pm #650522Question 1 I had roles one. He seemed to have jumbled the roles of CEO & Chair. He had bits in wrong section. So had to put them back in right places. Was like a puzzle.
What did everyone put for the omissions bit of this question?
Only thing i could think of that was missing was in the Chair side & was protecting shareholders best interests. Mind went blank.
I agree Q2 A was very odd.
I put planning, design, implementation & monitoring stages as headings. Then wrote what i could. No idea if this is right or wrong.
I found Q2B ok.
March 9, 2022 at 5:53 pm #650536What was the recommendation you guys gave for Q3 when selecting between the two projects dinghies and the luxury yatchs?
March 9, 2022 at 6:58 pm #650560What did everybody say about risks? There were data and reputation risks and scepticism
March 9, 2022 at 7:00 pm #650561Hi, I wasn’t able to finish my exam due to technical issues. Firstly the highlight option stopped working and then the whole thing crashed. As a result I had to rebook for next week. Is anyone here who has ever experienced similar situation and had to sit the exam during the contingency week? Just wondering if you could share with me your experience. I’m worried that the new exam may be harder than the one which I sat yesterday.

I stick to my alloted time per question. At this level we should not be running out of time in the exam

I didn’t have time to add anything that he possibly omitted. I spent all my time writing about the nonsense he wrote lol.
And I actually wrote similar headings for the stages of change for question 2. I don’t think we’re wrong
March 10, 2022 at 4:06 am #650609For the Q2 I just took points from the exhibits which related to the concerns of the employees and like lack of communication and mentioned that during the period of change it is important to have good communication as well as boost staff morale. Didn’t know much to write
Q2b I spoke about the employee concerns such as not paying overtime and addressed them saying that these concerns will be addressed and therefore adequate overtime payments will be made for approved OT and such..

Thanks 🙂 Makes me feel a bit better
March 11, 2022 at 4:03 am #650961Even if you didn’t write under separate headings if you’ve got the points you’ll get marks I think. But that Q2 was a real struggle for me. I just moved from it when the time was up I couldn’t afford to spend more time on it. Thankfully gave me time to do Q5 which was about E marketing which was relatively easier cause it was just about linking two exhibits like issues Yexmarine had and the services offered by seeyatch that could help Yexmarine to overcome those
March 12, 2022 at 5:10 am #651104Yeah I got the same issue. I kept on pressing chat button, but no one showed up. In that last 15 minutes i was left with the last 16 marks question. That is the saddest part. Did you finish your exam? Have you tried rebooking or something?
March 12, 2022 at 7:44 am #651114yes, i faced same issue and have re-booked to next week
March 12, 2022 at 9:43 am #651144Were all the letters, briefing notes to CEO of yexmarine from external consultant? I think the letter to employees was from ceo to staff so I addressed the letter from ceo to yexmarine employees. Is that correct?

I think I wrote it from CEO as the consultant was expected to draft the letter on his behalf.
March 12, 2022 at 11:32 pm #651191everything should have been:
TO: Tony Bursham (a.k.a the CEO, or Board of Directors, depending on the question)
FROM: Stranart (or however they were called) Consultant (you)The only exception is the letter you mentioned which should be
FROM: Tony Bursham
TO: Yexmarine Emoyees
(And at the end of the letter u could have put “Sincerely, Tony Bursham, CEO Yexmarine).the language also should have been majority of the time “the company should” or “Yexmarine can..” as we are external.
Only in the employee letter the language should have been “WE will..”, “WE are going to..”, since CEO to employees is internal

The letter to employees was the only one which we needed to carefully pay close attention to the tone. In fact, after doing the letter to employees I struggled a bit to re-adjust the tone in the next question as I was still writing “we” instead of Yexmarine.
March 13, 2022 at 6:49 am #651200You can mentioned CEO Yexmarine and External consultant instead of mentioning their names right? Instead of the Consultant firm name?
