June 12, 2023 at 6:15 pm #686926250 fav i remember something like that
June 12, 2023 at 7:12 pm #686927A lot of the syllabus didn’t seem to be covered in this exam (e.g. P = a – bQ, minimax regret, a lot of the variance scenarios etc.). Although it was only a 3 hour exam, a great deal of material studied was not exploited in the exam. The mix variance question was very abstract compared to the learning material (used BPP workbook and Kaplan exam kit). The time series question and the flexed question (said something about varying with 15% of sales revenue…what?!) also were not adequately covered by the material. The concert question was unclear when it came to the fixed costs. I made a mistake of not realising that the learning rate question required the answer to be given as a percentage. The diamond/ring throughput ratio question was a variation of the September 2016 specimen, but much harder as they didn’t give the cost per factory hour. The 10-mark gears/brakes question was a RIP-OFF! I probably spent over 30 minutes on this, I think I was right in eventually working out it was a make or buy scenario, but not sure if my calculations were right as this was, like many of the other questions, a lot more abstract and bizarre than anything covered by the material (even though a bit of stretch is expected). I highlighted my thoughts through the ACCA feedback platform.
June 12, 2023 at 9:12 pm #686932Did any one get the question on Activity based budgeting in section C?
June 13, 2023 at 9:35 am #686976Thinking about it, P = a – bQ might have been covered, but I’m quite sure things like information costs and production volume/profit maximisation based on contribution (per unit) weren’t. I know a 3 hour exam can’t cover everything, but would have definitely prefered the latter for question 10!
June 13, 2023 at 10:25 am #686982Can you tell how??
June 13, 2023 at 10:46 am #686983I also had the activity based budgeting question but my mind went totally blank!!
I wrote that it was more complex and costly, what did you put?
June 15, 2023 at 4:41 pm #687086I wrote those two points that u wrote I also wrote time consuming and explained them a bit since this was a 6 mark question.
The calculation in part A was quite tough and time consuming did you manage to do it
June 25, 2023 at 4:03 pm #687427I really struggled with the spreadsheet part for the budget, I had a go but couldn’t complete all of it and unsure if what I did do was correct or not! I kept coming back to it and doing abit more.
Really so unsure of this exam and what the result will be. Did you manage to do the spreadsheet budget?June 27, 2023 at 10:42 pm #687476I was able to do it but I left out one calculation there was just to many details given in a huge paragraph I had to do around 11 workings. The question seemed like a mess it was just huge paragraph with bunch of details thrown in. After the working were done I filled in the details of the over heads space that they gave in the spread sheet.
What was the second question you got ? I got calculation of kpi in part A and in part b I got the six dimensions they asked to explain each dimensions ,give the kpi and justify the kpi of each dimensionsJuly 2, 2023 at 6:28 pm #687573The exam for me was a total disaster. With all sleepless night I found it very horrible especially Section C, I didn’t know how to answer.
July 2, 2023 at 6:30 pm #687574The exam was a total disaster to me. Section C was horrible and I didn’t know how to answer. I guess Section B was much better. I don’t think I’ve made it. I’m so disappointed.
July 3, 2023 at 10:49 am #687591I didn’t get the same later questions as you did, I’m really not too confident at all that what I did was correct! I guess time will tell..
We just have to cross our fingers & hope for the best. Let’s come back here and post how we got on regardless of the result.
Have you all set up to get your results by text at midnight or are you waiting until they go online at 5am?
