Dear John,
If Sukuk is where effectively the Sukuk Certificate owner holds the ownership of the asset, which is being rented out so that the Suuk owner earns the rent and gets the share in eventual sale of asset, then what exactly is difference between Sukuk and Ijara (leasing)?
Sukuk is where there is an asset which is earning revenue (leasing it out is just one example of how it can earn revenue), and the sukuk holders share the revenue (and share the risk).
Ijara is effectively exactly the same as leasing.
