How do you differentiate between NCA held for sale and discontinued operations?
Hi,
The NCA-HFS is looking at things from a SFP perspective and the disclosure there if we have decided to sell an asset or disposal group. The disposal of an individual asset would not then give rise to a discontinued operation but the sale of the disposal group could. this depends on the rules for a discontinued operation.
The discontinued operation is looking at things from the SPL perspective where a line of business may be closing or being sold and so is discontinued. If it was being sold if would also be a disposal group HFS but it would not be HFS if it was just closing as it is not being sold.
Thanks
