I registered for exam on Sat, 14 Aug and my exam will be on Thur, Aug 19.
I got the following email from ACCA :
“….. Due to ongoing events and to ensure your safety and that of all ACCA students, we are very sorry to announce that we will be cancelling all exams for the upcoming September 2021 session. This includes remotely invigilated exams and on-demand exams.
Full refunds will be arranged; however, we kindly ask for your patience as we
process these over the coming days…. ”I live in Afghanistan. You may know the terrible situation in our country.
I have 3 questions :1. Exams are canceled for upcoming September 2021 Session. Does it mean that we won’t be able to take exam for 3 months?
2. What do they mean by” full refunds will be arranged” in above email?
3. My exam is this Thursday before Sept session. Will I be able to take exam this Thursday? I called BARLAS ALP where I registered for exam on Saturday but they don’t answer.
Need Your Help!
August 17, 2021 at 6:51 pm #631864Yes. I was distressed to see the events in your country and hope you and your loved ones stay safe.
You are asking me interpret the ACCA’s email so what I say contains some judgement or guesswork.
Q1 I would think there will be no exams for three months. Certainly, in person exams would need stability to allow exam centres and invigilation to be planned. Although you have sent us this message on the internet on-line exams require a stable internet for three hours or so. I don’t know how good international internet connections are for you.
Q2 ACCA intends to refund the exam fees for your cancelled exams. I don’t know if it will be difficult for them to send money to an account in Afghanistan.
Q3 I would guess that your exam of 19th August will not be held, but keep trying Barlas.
I suggest also you email ACCA with your queries. Put ‘Afghanistan student’ in the header as this should draw their attention.
Sorry if I can’t be of more help but get in touch if you have other queries we might be able to answer.
In the meantime you have my best wishes for the future.
August 19, 2021 at 11:30 am #632126Thank you Sir!
Your reply means a lot.
I reply late cause we have power just at night. There is no power during the day. No power, No wifi and so No internet.
With your support and Opentuition, my concept of lessons is very clear. I got 94% in FA1. I was about to take FA2, but our country faced total chaos and disorder. I was confident enough that I could get more than 90% in FA2 as well.
I really really appreciate the efforts OpenTuition put through to help students pass their exam papers.I intend to study FA/F3 in these 3 months, but then I think If I start studying FA/F3, I will forget FA2. I can’t take FA2 exam until Dec. I want your opinion.
1. What should I do in these 3 months?
2. Can ACCA help me get out of this country permanently If I strive and become affiliate or member?
Afghanistan is no longer a place for living, Self-improvement and education.3. I am a part-time English teacher. I save money for tuition Fee of advanced papers. I save money for exam fee. I save money for annual account Fee. I Put mental, physical and financial efforts to study this Field (ACCA) . Does it worth it? Will I get a good job with a handsome salary in the future? I am very hopeless now at this turbulent time.
Everything is shut in Kabul now.
It is worse than Quarantine.
I emailed to ACCA as you said.
Thanks!
August 19, 2021 at 3:42 pm #632182Congratulations on your FA1 result and thank you for your kind comments about Opentuition.com.
My answers to your questions are:
1 As there is currently great disruption in your country which might interfere with your current work, now might be an opportunity to ‘keep your head down’ and study. If exams are possible again in December I’m sure you could easily revise for FA2. You don’t need 90% to pass and progress!
2 I don’t think ACCA will be able to help at all. The ACCA qualification can help people move overseas to take up a job offer but the governments of both countries’ involved have the power to enable or prevent emigration/immigration.
3 I truly don’t know. I don’t know what will happen about emigration and visas; I don’t know what will happen the Afghan economy and the need for high quality accountants; I don’t know what national or international companies might build a presence there; I don’t know what countries will succeed in building alliances with Afghanistan.
Your predicament moves me greatly but I see no way to address it in the short term…..other than to use the next few months studying. Opportunities might become clearer in a few months. It is difficult to plan or advise when there is such turbulence.
Best wishes,
Ken Garrett

Thanks for invaluable advise.
From now on, I may ask questions in both FA2 and FA Forums as I will take both FA2 and FA exams after 3 months.

In practical terms I can’t offer much apart from constructive help where I can on any future posts you make where I believe I can be of assistance.
August 25, 2021 at 4:54 pm #632898Thanks Mrjonbain.
For what it’s worth, I believe that ACCA has around 3000 students registered in Afghanistan.
