In case of group relief the claimant company will set off the loss of surrendering company from its Total taxable profit.
The question is will the claimant company set off the losses of surrendering company before setting of its brought forward losses of after setting off its brought forward losses.
Losses are always applied in chronological order – so that in your example a loss b/f will take priority to group relief and a current period loss will take priority to a loss of the next accounting period being brought back into the current period.
Remember also that the loss b/f will ONLY go against the trading profits of the current period whereas the group relief claim as you correctly state goes against the TTP.
