Incase i am given three companies;subsidiary,associate and joint venture and i am required to calculate the goodwill for all the three woud i sum up all the goodwill,if incase i get positive goodwill for all the three?

Hi,
No as there is no goodwill calculated in an associate as we equity account for it and similarly with the joint venture.
If you have two subsidiaries then by all means add together the two calculations of goodwill.
